Valdosta State University (Bachelor of Fine Art)
I am a Contemporary painter working primarily in Acrylics but also in Oils, and Watercolors. I paint in a modern impressionistic style, using quick brush stokes, movement, and bold color in my creative process. The uniqueness of my painting style comes in part from my preference of mixing my secondary colors. My pallet consists of the three primary colors plus white. All other colors you see in my work have been mixed using only these four pigments.
When I teach my students how to paint, mixing colors is a large part of the learning process. I also believe in knowing the fundamentals of art before taking up painting. These fundamentals; drawing, perspective, value, line, and shape, are essential to producing a successful painting. I teach these fundamentals to my students through the use of graphite, pastels, and charcoal.
An active member in the Newnan Coweta Art Association, I share my love for art with others through volunteering and offering demonstrations to local artists, and art students. I am always looking for new opportunities to share my knowledge and experience in the arts with others. As a teacher, I am easy going while encouraging fun and enjoyment throughout the learning process.
Along with being a business owner of Thomas Fine Art and Design, which was founded after I graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art degree, I currently conduct art classes and workshops in downtown Newnan, Georgia at Out of the Blue Debut art gallery and studio. I look forward to working with future students who strive for excellence in their artistic endeavors. I am here to help you become the artist you want to be.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
