UGA (Science in Education)
Walden University (MEd)
I have am MEd from Walden University and a degree in Science in Education from UGA. I have been teaching middle school Language Arts for 12 years with experience in both Madison County, GA and Gwinnett county, GA. I love constantly researching best practices in how to develop students' reading fluency and comprehension. I enjoy making learning as hands on as possible, but also preparing students for the always expected standardized format test.
I enjoy reading with students including both them reading and myself reading aloud. Writing is always embedded in my teaching as students who read like writers and write like readers do the best. I am constantly looking for mentor texts that challenge my students and engage them in the content.
I integrate reading, writing and grammar constantly!
I would love to help students get motivated reading and writing and see that they too can excel in school! I have am MEd from Walden University and a degree in Science in Education from UGA. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
