I graduated from Clayton State College in an ADN program, passed my nursing boards, got a job and continued towards my BSN. I worked on an ortho/neuro specialty unit where I learned so much about what a wonderful machine the body is. From those experiences I knew I wanted to work in the emergency department. I spent the next 18 years in the emergency department at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Georgia.
I am a forensic registered nurse. My specialty and certifications range from sexual assault, domestic violence to elder abuse and medical legal death investigations. Please feel free to talk with me about all the exciting new sub-categories emerging under the umbrella of forensic nursing.
I started out as a chemistry major and then found that biology made me happier. I have spent hours in the lab and when working on a forensic case I am hands on with evidence collection and analysis.
As an ER nurse medication understanding is first before administration. Even before that you must understand the the anatomy and physiology (the working) of the human/mammal body. I am pretty tech savvy and love to use creative way to assist student to not just learn but to understand. You just can memorize all this stuff. I have a way of explaining in English and real life application so you too can move forward in reaching your goals.
I continue to teach in different mediums and practice in the field with patients. I encourage you to contact me to explain what your goals are and see how I can assist, facilitate and make the challenges of learning fun and exciting.
