About De Navard

My name is De Navard. I attended the Georgia Institute of Technology (B.S. Biochemistry). I have been tutoring since my sophomore year of college. I enjoy tutoring for numerous reasons. One major reason is the opportunity to help someone understand subjects that I thoroughly enjoyed in my high school and early years of higher education.

I also enjoy tutoring because tutors enjoy the gratification of witnessing the happiness students feel when they finally understand a concept that seemed difficult to grasp.

In addition to my love for tutoring, I have more than 5 years of experience doing it. I started tutoring when I was hired to be a Calculus tutor by my former professor. I work for a year for him (Fall semester of 2009 and Spring Semester of 2010) and then I was hired by an organization within the then Georgia Perimeter College, now an arm of the Georgia State University to be a tutor for disadvantaged students who needed help with remedial math; I worked there from the fall of 2010 until June of 2013 . While tutoring at the college, I had an increasing number of students whom I tutored privately ; I also tutored students from inner city schools through the no child left behind program. I continue to tutor privately to this day and would like the opportunity to tutor more students.

I am a Supply Chain Planner, as such I do very challenging and dynamic work. However, I don't get to make a difference in another person's life very often, at least not on a level as personal as an academic counselor, a nurse, or a teacher gets to. Tutoring feels that gap left behind by my professional life.

I believe that I am a good math tutor because I have learned to relate even the most abstract math concept to real life situations relatable to the student. I am very patient and I have a very deep understanding of the subjects. Moreover, I have worked very arduously on my communication skills, which has helped with my delivery of the explanation of concepts.
More importantly, I have empathy. I can walk in the shoes of my students and commiserate with them on why a concept may be difficult to grasp and consequently come up with good strategy that can help make the concepts seem less frightening.

I am available early evening (5:30 pm - 8:00 pm) during the week and on weekends (10:00 am - 8:00 pm) to any students whether you're struggling or you're getting ready to take an AP exam.

Let's tackle some math/science problems together.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

I have a degree from Ga-Tech in Biochemistry. Over the years I have tutored numerous students. I know the subject very well.
