I have always had a deep love of music. When I was 2 I gave my sister a black eye in a fight over the Walkman (basically an 80's iPod for those who are a little younger than me). The deep impacted the world of sound had on my life was never as apparent as when I join the Middle School band when I was 12. When I started playing the trumpet I went from being a 'C' student to an 'A' student. But it wasn't enough. I father played the drums so I convinced him to buy me a drum set. We had an old Casio keyboard laying around the house so I moved it into my room. I put stickers on the keys so I could learn the names of the notes. I would pick out melodies, and eventually, start making up my own.
I was 13 when I starting writing music. After programming my own songs into the keyboard, my parents decided to get me piano lessons. I was 15 when I started playing guitar and bass while I was playing drums in the high school band. I spent my afternoons in the music computer lab at school creating MIDI music on Apple 2s while waiting for my parents to pick me up. Before graduating high school, I had recorded an album of 12 of my songs. It receives some radio play and I got a lot of press in the school new paper. In college, I continued my music education by majoring in Music composition with Piano being my primary instrument. I received two piano scholarships and the prestigious Pi Mu Alpha Composition scholarship. I broaden my music education more when I received a Masters in Music Technology, while at the same time, recording my 2nd album at Tree Sounds in Atlanta, GA.
