In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I bring a strong background in teaching ACT math, with experience at both the high school and college level. Having worked with students preparing for the ACT math test. I am familiar with its structure and methods of questioning. Working with students I strive to build their confidence as they learn that they can do the work accurately and with reduced levels of anxiety.

I have successfully worked with many students to help them master Algebra 1. Plus having the background of teaching all levels of high school math and college math provides me with the subject matter knowledge. As I work with students I decrease their math anxiety and build their self confidence to allow them to relax, which allows them to learn more and earn higher Algebra 1 grades.

In addition to being qualified to help with Honors Algebra 2, I also tutor students in the following areas: PreAlgebra, Geometry, ACT Math, Algebra 1, Trigonometry, SAT Math, Algebra 2, PreCalculus, and PSAT/GED.

GED students often times lack self-confidence, especially with math. As a high school and college math instructor, I work with the student to develop confidence, and the core skills for them to pass this important exam. Working with each student, I reduce their frustration levels by showing them that they can do the work, and do it accurately. As we work together, the student's confidence improves and their knowledge increases, thus becoming better able to pass this exam.

For some students geometry is challenging and for other students they lack the visualization to "see it". Having worked with geometry students at the high school and college level, I help these students grasp the idea that we are working on and show them techniques to better help them "see it". In my sessions, the anxiety level is reduced allowing for the student to work on the problem without the fear of making a mistake. Mistakes are used as learning experiences. The results are students with higher grades and better attitudes.

I have taught linear algebra at both the high school and college levels plus privately tutored students on the subject. From an educational background I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in math.

I have passed the Math Praxis Tests. To teach in Georgia you must pass the Praxis tests in your area and I have taught at the high school level for 8 years plus I have taught at the college level also. I am an experienced math tutor covering all the aspects of the Praxis Math Tests.

I have both a Georgia and Florida teachers license for grades in which PreAlgebra is taught. I have taught PreALgebra in the schools systems and privately tutored students. In addition one of my educational degrees is in Mechanical Engineering with a minor of math (72 credits) which goes far beyond PreAlgebra.

The challenge of teaching precalculus is that many students are not prepared. As a former high school and college math teacher, I can recognize the signs the student is "not getting it" and work with them to understand their confusion correct misconceptions and then getting them to move to the next level of work. Using various methods to differentiate my lesson, I am able to better engage more students who then discover how to take that "next step" accurately, by themselves.

Having successfully worked with students preparing for the PSAT, my students need to overcome the challenges of each portion of the test. My techniques help students reduce their anxiety and allowing for them to perform better. In addition to preparing the students for the math and language arts sections. I work with them to review the test structure and grading system, allowing them to work smart and earn higher grades.

As a high school math teacher and college instructor, I saw students freeze when taking trigonometry. Working with the students, I allowed them to reduce their anxiety and frustration, by asking questions and trying to solve easier problems. When the easy problem was accurately completed, we moved on to the next level and allowed the students the opportunities to discover how they would solve the problem. We would review their work, correct any misconception, and careless errors and move up to still a more challenging problem. My key is to have the student experience success and build upon each success.

Having the experience of working with both high school and college students learning trigonometry, I understand the areas of confusion and how to work around them. In addition students get frustrated when they don't achieve success. When working with students I reduce their math anxiety allowing them to learn new information and apply it correctly.
