¡Hola! I've had 12 years' experience teaching Spanish online and in the classroom to students of all ages. I recently completed five years with Minnesota Virtual Academy, teaching mainly students in grades 6-8. I also am instructor and course writer for online Spanish through the University of North Dakota, my alma mater. My wife, Karen, a corporate human resources manager, and I moved to the Atlanta area from Minnesota four years ago. I earned my Spanish degree at UND, where I went on to get a Master's in education. I studied abroad at an accredited Spanish language program while living with host families in Costa Rica. I'd love to share my passion and skills for learning Spanish - and might be able to help in other subjects as well. I was a longtime newspaper journalist before beginning my career to meet the growing demands for Spanish language classes.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've taught Spanish for nearly 15 years, but also hold a degree in English and have a rich experience in communications - both as a teacher and as a former longtime newspaper writer. My philosophy is to teach with a language with all five senses in mind. In short, help learners use their brains they way their brains work best.
My nearly 15 years of teaching Spanish qualifies me to teach most ages. I've taught in the classroom and online to hundreds of students from grade 4 to university levels. My online teaching in particular has created hundreds of one-on-one learning opportunities for my beginning Spanish students.
