My name is Teri G. and I am a former classroom teacher. I began my teaching career in the Georgia Pre-K program and then taught kindergarten through 2nd grade at Sanders Elementary, in Cobb County. I also have tutored the past three years from grades pre-k-5th. I loved being in the classroom, but tutoring gives me the opportunity to get to know my students and focus on certain academic areas. I have been blessed with tremendous amounts of patience and a true enjoyment of working with children. I believe my teaching strengths are patience, persistence, kindness, and 20+ years of effective and innovative lessons.

Ms. Teri enjoys what she does and it shows and after only two lessons our son is excited about learning to read he is gaining more confidence daily thanks to Ms. Teri.
My daughter and Ms. Teri got to know each other and the tutoring session went very well. She is patient, kind and very knowledgeable.
Teri is very good with my grandkids and they look forward to her coming each week! Their grades have improved since she has been tutoring them.
Ms. Teri is a wonderful person, during the first meeting when I interviewed her, she was easy to speak with and was like an open book. Inviting her into my home was so easy.
Once meeting with my kids she took to them (7 year old daughter and 5 year old son) immediately, my kids could be a hand full, however she has been very patient with them and my kids have grown to love her dearly.
They were not doing well in school initially, but since she started teaching, there was a great progress in their report. Apart from tutoring she was able to influence them to listen and change some certain attitudes which was a great plus for me. She is very patient, dependable, time conscious- she is always came on time.
My 5 year old was able to read fluently, do mentally tasking activities considered above his age. My daughter not only did well in school, she was also able to stay on tasks. Ms. Teri also gave me a plan of activities she had planned for my children and also gave me updates with her progress.
I will definitely recommend her to anyone else, she is by far the best of all the tutors I have had.
Terri is a very friendly and caring tutor. She was prepared and my daughter warmed up to her immediately. She loves children and they can feel it. She is a great tutor!
Teri G. is an excellent tutor. She is wonderful with my daughter and she explains and teaches her very well. We couldn't ask for a better tutor and person.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
One year in 2nd grade I received a new student who was autistic. I spent a lot of time with his mother who helped me learn the best ways to work with him. I learned hands on for 3 months until the county I worked in provided an aide, and the last I heard he has successfully completed 8th grade. I have the patience and desire to work with special needs students, and have been successful with them in a classroom setting. Being in a tutoring setting would allow for much greater learning to occur.
I have taught the Common Core in Cobb County, Georgia for four years. I taught it in kindergarten and in 2nd grade. I've tutored Common Core in elementary math, reading, writing, and all areas of language arts over the last 3 years with WyzAnt Tutoring.
I have taught K-2nd grade for 9 years at Sanders Elementary School in Austell, Georgia. I have also tutored students in 1st through 5th grade the past two years. I have a valid K-8 teaching license from the State of Georgia.
Throughout my years of Pre-K through 2nd grade I have taught extensive phonics. I have used all of the required texts and workbooks required by Cobb County. Two examples of these are Sitton Spelling and Words Their Way. One way I have taught phonics is by relating to letters to a certain picture, or pictures, and then using that connection in songs and small group lessons. I have used Dr. Jean's phonic songs in school and tutoring and also phonics tunes from "kids videos" on the internet.
I taught reading for 9 years at Sanders Elementary School in Austell, Georgia. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd were the grades I taught. For the past 2 years at WyzAnt I have tutored reading in grades Pre-k - 4th. I believe that reading and writing go together so when I teach it there is also a pre-writing/writing response notebook included as part of the lesson.
I have been a certified teacher in Georgia for the past 20 years. I have 6 years of teaching pre-k for the Georgia Pre-k Program, Bright From the Start as well as 10 years of teaching grades K-2nd in a Cobb County school. I have tutored privately for 2 years and have now reached my 20+ hours with WyzAnt. Every year I have taught and with all my tutoring lessons, I have been teaching helpful and useful study skills.
