I am an experienced, certified teacher who taught for 13 years at a local east Cobb high school as well as in other states. I have a masters in Math, and am certified in social studies. I have a gifted endorsement as well. I realize students learn in different ways so I must adapt my presentation to how they learn as well as provide multiple chances for their success. I have tutored one-on-one and in small group situations previously.

Melissa has been great with my son and I have no doubt she can help boost his confidence with his math.
Geometry - it was nice having an experienced teacher who can help us navigate all the changes in Math!
Helped with homework, prepared for upcoming tests, gave challenging work, thought how to organize and take notes, drew pictures of mathematical problems to help better understanding
Melissa is an excellent math tutor. She is prepared, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. She laid out an excellent game plan to make sure we are fully prepared for the ACT exam.
Melissa C. has tutored my son (high school senior) for at least 10 sessions and my son's SAT Math score improved and now his trigonometry homework and test scores are showing remarkable improvements too. My son is no math genius and he struggles with it, however having the right teacher/tutor has made the difference in my son getting into the college of his choice. Perhaps once he is in college he will still struggle with math but I know he will now have gained some skills and confidence which otherwise he would not have if it wasn't for his math tutor.
Melissa tutored my son in Algebra and he had a great experience with her. She reviewed his Algebra packet ahead of time and was prepared to give him additional materials. In addition, she offered him help in getting organized for school and gave him helpful tips. Her experience and advice is well worth the money!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have prepared several students successfully for their ACT including my daughter who just took it as a 7th grader. I enjoy helping students focus on the content as well as how to prepare for the test.
I have enjoyed teaching students at various levels the structure of Algebra I.
I have taught and tutored Algebra 2 successfully to a variety of students with differing abilities for 8-10 years.
I have taught multiple levels of American History to students over the years. I enjoy bringing the past alive to students. I think history is a great story that we all need to be aware of.
Geometry is one of my favorite subjects. I have taught Euclidean geometry at several levels in high school for several years. I love the fact that it deals logically with shapes. When I teach it I have students do some investigations and make observations.
I have tutored students in prealgebra for several years. I enjoy seeing them gain confidence and become successful.
I have taught an SAT prep course to a variety of students of differing math backgrounds.
