About Adeola

My name is Adeola A., and I am a 25 years old Masters in Public Health degree holder from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan, New York. I received my undergraduate degree in biology, with a concentration in molecular genetics at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. My favorite subject was biology and algebra in high school, but I decided to study biology in college. While in college, I took difficult subjects like organic chemistry, biochemistry and physics, but organic chemistry ended up being my most enjoyed and favorite class. The first time I tutored was at the Hands on Atlanta tutoring program at Parklane Elementary School. I tutored grades 3 and 4 children, which was a fulfilling experience, and it helped ignite my interest in tutoring at my spare time.

I believe every child is unique and has different learning capabilities. As a tutor it is our job to take what the child has learned in school, and further ensure that they understand the subject thoroughly. Learning should be fun and shouldn't be a burden! I remember while in high school, having tutors that were robot-like, and weren't able to relate with me. As a result, I got rid of the tutors, and started to learn on my own. I have had experiences tutoring in college with science organizations, and I have also tutored my younger siblings and cousins. I believe a student has to understand the subject rather than just memorizing, in order to be able to better perform in that subject. I teach in a way that the student will understand the what, when, and why of the matter. I will provide subject-specific, practice problem worksheets for the students to help them in their learning I always feel content and accomplished when my students come back home with good grades, as a result of my tutoring.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Students will learn about graphing on the xy-coordinate system, linear and quadratic functions, and solving equations. They will use the algebraic skills in different problem solving situations in future advanced math classes.

Biology

Biology introduces students to the important concepts, principles, and procedures characteristic of several major approaches to organisms. Being skilled in this subject involves problem solving and acquiring lab techniques. Knowledge of basic biology allows the student to branch off into different sciences.

English

Students will develop their skills in writing, grammar, and reading. The reading exercises will focus on students being able to determine the purpose and the main ideas of a story.

Proofreading

This subject will help students identify the components of a well-written paper. They will be able to recognize run-ons and proofread their writing for clarity. It will help strengthen the student's writing skills.

Great Tutor — I found a great tutor and I am happy, but most importantly my son is happy with his tutor. Adeola explains everything that happen during the tutoring session with my son. My son is comfortable with her. He was so excited when he received his report card and saw that his grades went up and he could not wait to show Adeola.
