I am very enthusiastic about teaching students from preschool through fifth grade. I have taught all these grades for a total of 26 years. During those years, I taught students who were remedial, regular education, and gifted in public schools and private tutoring. I am an accomplished educator who leverages strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and teamwork to achieve educational objectives. I am proficient in all elementary subjects including Math.
I have been recognized for achievements in student motivation, differentiation, assessments, curriculum development, new teacher mentor, and students passing CRCT. I am known for implementing a shared vision which encourages productivity, creativity, results, and excellence. I do have a valid Georgia Educator's certificate at the Master's level.
I work with children at the point they are now and take them to their greatest potential. I try to instill a love of learning so the students will be life-long learners. I would be happy to communicate with a student's classroom teacher if parents so desired. I will drive about ten miles from my home. Most students come to my home to get tutoring. Ms. Brenda is an outstanding tutor. My daughters tutoring lessons begin because she needed assists with the crct. She started out helping her with math and then reading comprehension. Ms. Brenda explains/break things down so that kids can understand and by making them comfortable about learning and asking questions. I have set in on several lessons and can see that Ms. Brenda loves what see does.
When my daughter got her crct results back, she was very close to excessing on all parts that’s why I have decided to keep my daughter with her lessons even after she was promoted to the 4th grade. Thanks Ms. Brenda for helping my daughter dig deep.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Elementary Math is what I teach best from K-5. From number sense, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, time, money, measurement, and problem solving to critical thinking, logic, and word problems I have taught it all and more in all elementary grades and with children from slow learners, average, to gifted. I enjoy Math teaching, because there are so many ways to get the concepts across from manipulatives, pictures, and many forms of paper and pencil work.
I have also taught most levels of science, social studies, spelling, and writing. I have taught science from seasons in Kindergarten to phases of matter in fifth grade. I have taught social studies from community helpers in Kindergarten to the Civil War in fifth grade.
