“**Excellent tutor!**”

Need help with math? I offer over 12 years of expert math teaching and tutoring experience. I have two masters degrees from Georgia Tech (Applied Mathematics 1994, Statistics 1995) and I'm a full-time math instructor at Chattahoochee Technical College. I speak clear, easy to understand English. I'm highly skilled in all areas of math including

Scott is a very professional and patient tutor. He has a great understanding of mathematics and is able to take his knowledge and explain it in a way that makes sense. It seems like a lot of mathematics professors have difficulty helping students understand a tough concept, but Scott is able to explain concepts in a way that is easy to understand and helpful. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs assistance in understanding mathematics.

Not only is Scott a Stats genius, but he has a very effective way of teaching to the lowest denominator (me in this case). Breaks things down to the simplest level to help comprehension.

I was taking Calc 2 for the second time and I decided I needed a tutor. Mr. Scott was really easy to work with and he was very patient when I would go through moments where I didn't understand and he would work me through them. His help was able to help give me the confidence that I could get through the class though the first time was really difficult. For me I am someone who needed a person who will let me try sort through my understanding by myself but is able to chime in and simplify my way of thinking into a more manageable pieces and Mr. Scott is very good at that. He was also very willing to find extra time before a test to go over my work to make sure I understood. All in all he is a great tutor.

I first contacted him for my Discrete math college class and we set up a regular schedule to meet once a week. He is easy to get in touch with, responds the same day pretty much all the time, he is also very friendly and he was willing to meet me at my college for most of our sessions. If I had not tried to find a tutor and come across him I would not have passed the class. In discrete math he was able to help explain some things in different ways than what my teacher said and that helped by giving me different ways to solve a kind of problem. He explained things clearly where I could understand them and is very open to questions. I also had him tutor me while taking Calculus 1, I had taken Calculus once before and failed it and this time I had him as my tutor and he was great. There were days that we went through homework problems and worked them together, and if I had questions on a problem that I did I brought it and that was the first thing that we worked on. He is a great tutor for calculus and I would recommend him, if you need help with calculus I would highly recommend him, because some things that were taught in class he was able to go more in depth and explain it step by step.

Extremely pleased with Scott! His knowledge and teaching skills are excellent. My daughter has gone from a high B in AP stats to a solid A.

I managed to get accepted into a masters program in statistics with a bachelors in music. Many holes in my math foundation. To top it off, I'm in my 50's. I found Scott when I suddenly realized that I had bitten off more than I could chew this semester.

He has been fantastic. He has quickly been able to get a clear picture of where I'm weak and has begun filling in the gaps. His explanations are clear and help you understand why something works the way it does. I'm catching up to my peers and doing much better in both of my classes. I'm not wasting a bunch of time while the tutor tries to figure out how to do my work.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Although I did not take the ACT as a student, I received a perfect math score on similar tests such as the SAT and GRE. It will be hard to find more qualified college prep test help in Metro Atlanta.

My qualifications for teaching and tutoring Calculus are extensive, but I also pride myself on simple, clear explanations. I took calculus AB in high school and scored a perfect 5 on the AP Exam and 800 on the math SAT. Then I took honors Calculus at Georgia Tech and made straight A's. I served as a undergraduate and graduate teaching assistant, where I answered student questions about homework assignments and later taught my own courses. Since then I have years of high school and college teaching experience, including teaching pre-calculus and tutoring local Calculus and pre-calculus students.

Discrete mathematics involves finding and proving solutions to problems when answers are limited to whole numbers instead of decimals or fractions. Many real life problems require choices of whole units, such as how many items to purchase or how many people to place on a committee. These types of problems require a different approach than solving for any number on the number line. We must also show that we have "best" choice available. I have vast experience with such optimizations from taking courses such as Combinatorics and Probability and Statistics. I have also tutored students taking the traditional college Discrete Math course. I am familiar with often included topics including linear programming, rules of logic, graph theory, game theory, number theory, and various solution algorithms. I am also well versed in types of proofs including direct, induction, and contradiction.

I took several linear algebra courses while at Georgia Tech and have tutored multiple students in the subject. Matrices are one of my favorite topics in all of math. I've seen them used in advanced statistics classes and enjoyed teaching the linear algebra portion of the Calculus sequence as a graduate student. If linear algebra is throwing you off track, I can help.

I presently teach Precalculus at Chattahoochee Tech. I have also taught Calculus at the college level, so I am able to help prepare students for the highest levels of math. What sets me apart is the ability to provide simple and clear explanations of advanced concepts.

Probability and Statistics is one of my favorite areas of math. I first studied these topics at the Governor Honors Program the summer before my senior year of high school and continued those studies in my coursework at Georgia Tech, where I obtained a Master of Science degree in Statistics. I have taught Statistics, AP Statistics, and/or College Statistics for over 5 years. Every year I taught AP, had at least one student score a perfect 5 on the AP exam. You will be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable or qualified probability and statistics tutor in the metro Atlanta area.

I received a perfect score of 800 on the SAT Math section in 1987, and did it again with 800 on the GRE Math section in 1992. You won't find better help with SAT practice problems in Metro Atlanta.

Trigonometry is the study of measures within triangles, which leads to the important functions sine, cosine, and tangent. Understanding the relationship between these functions allows the student to find missing side and angle measures given other clues about a triangle. With extensive experience, I am able to guide students into unlocking the mystery of right triangles as well as other types of triangles.
