I enjoy working with one student or a small group of students to show them that learning is a life long process. I learn from the students something new every session. To have a student finally grasp a concept or begin to enjoy learning is my purpose in tutoring. The grades will come if either of these goals are met. Learning is fun!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Bible based education. I also teach Sunday School, go on mission trips, and am a vacation Bible School teacher.
I have worked in the CAPS Center (Counseling, Advising,Psychological Center) at Kennesaw State University for more than 10 years and have gotten awards for my assisting students preparing to return to school or what courses they need to complete their graduation requirements. I know the situations that can help or derail a person of any age being successful in attaining their goals.
My tutoring years are considerable. I have worked with many students who did not have a complete understanding of geometry. It seems some students understand algebra and not geometry and vise versa.
The ISEE is very similar to the SSAT except that the ISEE is for entrance into private schools where the SSAT is given in the public school usually magnet programs. The ISEE has different tests for different grade levels. Each test contains a verbal, reasoning, comprehension, math and a 30 minute essay portion. I have been approved for the SSAT and have tutored students in the past who were taking the ISEE.
I have tutored a number of students who were taking different Praxis tests, especially para-pro, math, entrance into university educational programs, biology and English. I am proud of the success of my students who have taken the different tests. Most have met with success on the first try. I have personally taken some of the Praxis tests myself. This gives me a "heads up" on some of the tests. I have also done some prep work to either take the test myself or do up-front work for other people to help do self prep for a specialty test. Having tutored so many different disciplines, this makes it easy for me to help prepare others for tests that are not necessarily my main area of expertise.
I was brought up in a religious home and went to a private religious high school. I minored in religion in college. I teach and tutor on my own religion.
I am certified in every area that is on the TEAS and I would be able to help anyone in any area of the test because the TEAS covers the basics of the SAT and the ACT.
I taught trig for many years at Southern Polytechnic State University. It is my most favorite math course of them all. Having taught it so often and tutored it, I have learned many tricks of the trade with the subject. It is a course that is sometimes difficult to try an catch up on like algebra courses. I think that is the challenge of the course. It has certain basics that are written in concrete and when that is accepted the course begins to make sense. It is a fun course because of those basics.
