About Gin

My academic background is in math and science. I earned master's degrees in both math education and earth science. I have always enjoyed studying math and science in order to keep up with the new discoveries of the world we live in. Meanwhile, applying the knowledge to my everyday life whenever the opportunity occurs.

As a certified Georgia math teacher for grades 6-12, I taught middle and high school students from 2006 to 2009. For the past eight years, I have been teaching and tutoring math at a technical college.

I have a strong passion in working with students exploring the mystery of mathematics. The math subjects that I tutor range from arithmetic, prealgebra, fundamental algebra 1, algebra 2, advanced college algebra, geometry, math modeling, trigonometry, analysis, probability, statistics, and calculus 1 and 2. Besides, I tutor chemistry and physics from time to time.

Being a native Chinese (Mandarin) speaker with a formal 16 years' Chinese school education, I can read, write, and speak Mandarin Chinese fluently. As a result, I am excited to share with anyone about the wonder of beautiful Chinese culture. Everyone who has dedicated himself/herself in learning Chinese language, planning to build business relationships with Chinese people, traveling to China or any Chinese-speaking regions in the world, is welcome to enjoy learning with me.

Last but not least, if you or your student finds that doing math becomes a challenging task, please do not struggle alone. Let us work together now to build up your solid foundation in conceptual understanding of math.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

Experienced in helping students be well prepared for ACT Math and Science. My approach to get decent scores on ACT is two-folds- first, understand the basic math formulas and secondly, develop your best test-taking strategies by becoming familiar with the test layout as given by ACT,

"The test presents multiple-choice questions that require you to use reasoning skills to solve practical problems in mathematics.

You need knowledge of basic formulas and computational skills to answer the problems, but you aren't required to know complex formulas and perform extensive computation."

Algebra 1

Algebra has been one math subject that I enjoy very much teaching and tutoring to my students over the years in my teaching career. I have taught and tutored algebra of all levels in middle and high schools as well as in college.

Algebra 2

College algebra is one subject that we can use to find many practical applications in our daily life, which makes it so interesting to learn. For each one of us, wouldn't it be fun to solve many of our everyday problems through algebraic approach if we know how?

Arithmetic reasoning on the ASVAB involves basic mathematical operations of real numbers and word problems related to our daily lives. Mathematics knowledge section of the ASVAB includes some more basic math, geometry, and algebraic equations. The most effective way to learn math is from studying and practicing it regularly. It is my ultimate goal to help you enjoy doing math.

One of the reasons why calculus is so intimidating arises from a lack of understanding about the nature of this subject. And again, the best way to learn calculus is by working out calculus problems. I am here to help you grasp the basic concepts and facilitate your learning to achieve your goal.

Geometry has always been one of my favorite math subjects. I have taught and tutored Euclidean geometry in middle, high schools and college. My teaching philosophy of geometry is focused on observation, exploration and investigation to fully understand the mystery of geometry.

It is a big decision to go to graduate business school.

The better you are prepared regarding all aspects of math, quantitative, integrated reasoning, as well as verbal reasoning and analytical writing, the more options you will provide to yourself in terms of choosing the right school for you, not to mention that you are also well prepared for the day one in the classroom.

It is and has been my best interest to help you become familiar with all basic, required math concepts to succeed in taking your exam of GMAT.

I am excited to tutor pre-calculus to my students because it is designed to refine the algebraic, geometric, trigonometric, and reading comprehension skills necessary for learning calculus.

Without the deeper understanding of pre-calculus concepts, it is very likely to stop a calculus student from being successful in doing advanced math.

As you are aware, calculus plays a substantial role in understanding the advancement of science and engineering up to date.

Again, I am here to help you to be successful.

SAT Math

The SAT is not exactly like the tests you have taken in school. I will work with you to help you get the best preparations through the following two approaches:

1. Fully understand the key concepts of math problems.

2. Drill on test-taking strategies to improve your score significantly.

Statistics is a science of data. In order to draw any sensible conclusions from collected data, we must examine the patterns that are revealed in them. Statistics can be a frightful subject for many students. It is my goal to provide a logical and friendly step-by-step approach to students to overcome this barrier.
