There are very specific strategies and ingredients that make an argument sound, an analysis important, and an essay excellent. In the years that I have taught Composition and Literature at Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech, I have developed a program that breaks down the process of reading and writing into discrete, manageable bits that every student can master.
I taught at Vanderbilt University from 1993 until 2004 and at Georgia Institute of Technology from 2004 until 2007. I have also worked with high school students at all levels to create effective college entrance essays and paper assignments; I have worked as a general tutor for elementary and middle school students; and I have graded assessment essays for the Georgia Board of Regents. As a parent, I observed Bridget interacting with my student and the results were great. I believe I have a more conscientious writer that will carry her into her college years. We will call upon Bridget again. Thank you for your assistance! - A very satisfied student and parent
Bridget helped me with a very very difficult poetry assignment that would've taken me days instead of hours to complete.
Bridget is helping Christian organize and crystallize how he will write his college essay. His work is just beginning on this but he feels more confident.
My grandson appears very happy with his tutoring experience with Bridget. And he is improving in his writing skills and attitude towards writing. The real appraisal will come from Bridget when she feels comfortable evaluating my grandson's active participation, follow-up with his assignments, and his willingness to pay attention and apply the knowledge Bridget is providing. I'm extremely hopeful he is giving 100% and will demonstrate all he's learning when school begins in a couple weeks. I'm very excited for my grandson to see that this opportunity is the key to enjoying writing reports on the books he loves to read.
Mrs. Bridget was very helpful. She taught me many different tricks on how to crack the ACT and SAT. I know that the time I spent studying with her will improve my scores.
My daughter is taking English Grammar lessons. Bridget is very organized and keeps lessons on task. She develops and follows individual plan based on student's needs (strengths and weaknesses). My kid is making remarkable progress and feeling more and more confident with Bridget's help.
Bridget worked with our 11th grader on AP English writing skills for several sessions. She had a very patient but direct approach to help our student focus on incrementally reviewing various components of writing. She applied her basic teaching template to actual assignments that our student had been struggling with for over a month. This allowed the assignments to finally be completed. In addition, Bridget began developing an overall plan to help our student with AP English and then move on to SAT preparation and college entrance essay writing. I have used various tutors myself over the years and engaged many tutors for relatives, and I would highly recommend Bridget.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
