For over 30 years, I organized physical and educational programs to help children with developmental difficulties thrive. I am a behavior analyst and use sound behavioral techniques to direct my students to perform their best and enjoy it.

I focus on finding the student's learning weaknesses and strengths, eliminating the weaknesses and bolstering the strengths. I eliminate learning weaknesses by assisting the learner to develop the sub-skills needed for progress. Learning disabilities are centered on hurdles and small sets of skills that prevent the development of others. I work with the whole child, meaning I develop programs which deal with the child's developmental process as a whole.
I understand paralyses because I was born with a paralysis. i understand dyslexia because I am dyslexic. I understand that our limitations are nothing but reasons to make greater efforts. Regardless of the difficulties, I earned a bachelor's in math, a master's level behavior analysis certification, and became a PhD level developmental psychology expert.

I have spent over 30 years working with children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, eating disorders, autism, and many learning disabilities. I started working with Children and Families, the courts, and Miami Dade schools. later, I moved on to develop holistic programs with behavioral, speech and communication, social skill, academic, and other components. I integrated music with occupational therapy, yoga, dance, and karate with physical therapy, metamemory and metacognitive techniques with academic learning, singing with speech therapy. My focus is on fast and enjoyable skill development. I have trained autistic children who did not speak initially to become bilingual.

I have a black belt given to me by the highest authority in the Shotokan world at the time, Sensei Kanazawa. I was also trained by many times world champion and head of the Shotokan World Karate Federation, Jimmy Wong
As a sensei, I have trained adults, children, and special children. Some of my

Most of my experience has been teaching students with disabilities and severe learning difficulties. I am a behavior analyst and use simple behavioral techniques to help students engage in the class. Most of my experience has been remedial. Therefore, I focus on looking for gaps in prior learning to reduce the difficulty the student faces in the current subjects.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Hello, when I was 13, I had great difficulty with numbers and reading. I transferred to a new school, where I met a teacher, Don Fausto, who realized what my problems were. Don Fausto observed me trying to solve math problems and quickly figured out that I not only had problems with numbers, but had become afraid of them. He worked with me after school, and I loved math within a few months. In fact, I graduated with a BS in applied math from The Ohio State University. Years later, I went to graduate school in psychology and became a behavior analyst. All my adult life, I have strived to be the Don Fausto for every child that has come to me for help.

Special Needs

ADHD,

ADHD

I am a master's level trained behavior analyst with 27 years experience working with ADHD children and adults. I have developed procedures that increase learners' attention and memory. These procedures also teach them and/or their parents/teachers how to manage the learners' hyperactivity. My students always improve markedly in their abilities to stay on task, pay attention, and remember the subject of the lesson. They do much better on their school tests after a few of my sessions.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD),

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I became a certified behavior analyst in 1995, while working on graduate research in developmental psychology. Since then, I have worked with autistic students and have attended multiple seminars on autism. I test students from their current school curriculum, and test backwards to the point at which they stop failing. I investigate the cognitive processes that have prevented the children from advancing correctly, and train them in those processes.
Dyslexia

Dyslexia

As a dyslexic person, I have developed many methods that are very helpful to develop reading, writing, and number skills. I use combined learning modalities, relying on auditory, kinesthetic, or visual components. The focus of my teaching is metacognitive. Therefore, I explain not only what has to be learned, but why, and how it relates to other learning. Specifically with dyslexic students, I train their short term and working memory, as well as their moment to moment attention, and help them become aware of typical dyslexic mistakes. I use components of the Orton Gillingham methods. With some students, I use Blast off to Reading.
