There are several skills and attributes that a teacher needs to be effective. For example a teacher should always be flexible and be able to handle unexpected circumstances/situations. This is important because teachers should be able to think and react quickly to situations and scenarios that arise. Other important skills that a teacher should possess are effective organizational skills. If a teacher is not organized that can not teach and instruct effectively and it cause serious problems within the classroom. A teacher must also be an efficient planner and be able to structure each daily activity and direct instruction according to that plan. Most importantly however, teacher should be great classroom managers and should have a structured, effective classroom management plan in place. If they do not have it will create a dysfunction within the classroom as well.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Social Studies

While Attending Wesleyan College I took over 15 hours of History and Social Studies related courses. These courses spanned from topics in American History to topics in World History, Government Ancient Civilizations. I have also taught Social Studies at the Middle School level, teaching both 7th and 8th grade during consecutive summers. Also I recently taught 6th grade Social Studies at Macon Charter Academy.
