Yep! That's me hanging off a bridge I taught my students to build made only of popsicle sticks and hot glue!

My weeks fill up quickly so please schedule your times early!

Physics and Math are passions of mine. I can teach you why you feel heavier flying through a loop on a roller coaster, how far you can throw a baseball on the moon, and why sunlight refracting through water droplets forms a rainbow!

Because each student is unique and learns differently, my lessons and teaching vary to match what works best for the student. With my mechanical engineering background, I firmly link abstract principles to tangible real-world phenomena; these connections are instrumental for developing an intuition for science that demystifies and heightens the equations we use.

In addition to six years of tutoring extremely satisfied students, I have taught Physics, Algebra, Calculus, and Engineering to middle school and high school students for Duke University's Talent Identification Program. At Duke, I developed entire curriculums from scratch to teach students a year's worth of material in three weeks. I have ample experience, therefore, in teaching a wealth of material concisely and effectively.

My students easily understand difficult material with my instruction. I have a flawless rating on Wyzant because I hold myself to the very highest standard for every single lesson. My ratings as a Duke TIP instructor are equally exceptional; my students consistently rate me as a top Instructor for engagement, creativity, clarity, feedback, enthusiasm, and serving as an academic role model.

I tutor students in grades 6 - 12, focusing especially on helping college-bound sophomores, juniors, and seniors achieve their highest potential. This includes honors and AP courses in addition to SAT and ACT prep. I tutor regular, honors, and AP Physics, Algebra 1 & 2, Trig, Precalculus, and Calculus AB.

After just a two hour lesson, I personally guarantee you will see instant and significant improvement on quiz and test results. If you do not

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

As a mechanical engineering major, I have completed extensive coursework in math. I also competed in math tournaments in high school. I have tutored students in math in structured programs and privately for a few years.
Calculus,

Calculus

As a mechanical engineering major, I have completed extensive coursework in calculus up through calculus 4 at Columbia University. Since then (for the past four years), I have taught and tutored calculus to high school and college students with great success.
Physics,

Physics

I will ensure you get a 5 on the AP Physics test. As a nationally ranked tutor and one of Wyzant's top 100 tutors, each and every lesson I provide is exceptional and efficient. As a mechanical engineer, my coursework and my professional experience has relied heavily on a solid foundation of physics. I use physics daily in my work, my studies, and as a tutor. I have had the most success with physics out of all the subjects I tutor. Physics is truly a passion of mine. My students begin to love physics when they understand this world's mathematical foundational beauty rather than just a jumble of disjointed equations.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have taught and tutored precalc to high school students with great success. My high school students often show immediate significant improvement on their test and homework grades after just a few sessions of reviewing precalc concepts with me.

Awesome as usual

Brett is super knowledgeable and knows how to impart that knowledge. Kid thought he was the best tutor ever. He comes well prepared but can change agendas depending on what she needs or is curious about. PALY AP physics.

Quick to bond and inspire my 13 year old son!

They had a great time while learning new Algebra concepts. A tutor who can inspire and entertain while delving into tough concepts- a great combination. We'll keep working with Brett!

Di-Ann, 15 lessons with Brett

Patient, methodical

Brett took the time to explain the concepts clearly and step by step until understood. He is patient and knowledgeable about the subject matter.

Great Tutor

Brett did a great job helping my son with Calculus BC. My son mainly needed to gain confidence by having someone that he could ask questions and work through problems with, and Brett was a great help. Will be using him again.

Thanks Brett

Brett was really helpful in reviewing PreCalc with me. He had great visuals with the help of his white board. With a better foundation of this subject that I was able to comprehend, I definitely have a better understanding and can learn on top of this much better.

Very Knowledgeable and Helpful

Brett is very knowledgeable and helpful with my daughter. He is always on time and is also willing to work with us if we need a schedule change. AP physics and AP calculus can be difficult and Brett is able to make it understandable and fun. We highly recommend him.

Excellent tutor, good guy

First off Brett came a little early so we had a chance to chat a few minutes. Immediate impression is he is personable and takes his responsibilities as a tutor very seriously. most importantly our son thought Brett was a cool guy that he could relate to and who was able to help him in physics by making the subject accessible and much less stressful. He looks forward to working with Brett again.

Very Effective!

Brett is very effective in his teaching style and also very efficient with time. He covered a difficult Algebra area in just one session and we saw instant improvement in quiz results.
