I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to help students one-on-one. I find that anyone can learn math, but sometimes it just takes more time. I also find that students have an easier time overcoming difficulties in math when they are able to ask questions and explain to their teacher how they are thinking about the math. This happens most often and in an easier fashion when the student is one-on-one with the teacher or tutor.
I believe that my attention to detail and my focus on questioning techniques makes me an excellent tutor. Also, I have studied the Georgia standards for math for grades 3rd - 12th grade, so I am very familiar with the connections that need to be made from grade level to grade level. Connections are important because students need to see that math is a subject that builds upon itself. Building a solid foundation is essential to success in all current and future math classes.
