About Sharon

*Experience and Confidence*

I believe in "experiential learning" which means you learn from EXPERIENCE. So, I like to do real activities such as help you pay your bills, practice your work and friend environments, make reservations online, shop for groceries and order coffee. I think people learn English best when they are experiencing things, so we will learn how to communicate in English on a necessary level.

I CUSTOMIZE each student's learning based on his or her goals for learning English. You may want to improve work-related conversation, gain more American friendships, practice phone dialogues or learn more idioms. Your learning will be for you!

I also believe CONFIDENCE is the most important part of learning. So, I teach confidence first, and I teach English second. If you feel confident about yourself and your English abilities, you learn faster and have better results! *Making mistakes builds confidence.*

If you are my student, you will learn real-life activities and gain confidence speaking English. We'll also become great friends and have a lot of fun!

My experience:
- I'm a volunteer ESL Teacher at Ocee Library in Johns Creek
- I taught English in South Korea for one year to middle school students
- I volunteered at Gwinnett Technical College teaching English to adults
- I have a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certification
- I have a Journalism degree from the University of Georgia

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I have one year of experience teaching ESL in South Korea to middle school students. I also volunteered at Gwinnett Technical College teaching ESL to adults. I have a TESOL Certification. I have a Journalism degree from UGA/Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
