My teaching career has been geared towards empowering elementary scholars academically, emotionally, and socially. I have a strong passion to educate scholars and help them become well-rounded and successful citizens. I am a certified K-5 teacher in Georgia and have been tutoring for 3 years in New Jersey. I have wonderful opportunities to teach diverse groups of students, including those with learning or emotional disabilities. As a result, I helped develop curriculum and effectively instructed first and second grades, which accommodates multiple learning styles. I provide effective classroom management, creative lesson plans, and data driven re-teach plans. I keep the line of communication between parents and guardians open in order to promote participation in the educational process, reinforce education at home, and boost scholars’ self-confidence.
As I reflect on my teaching practice, I have become more aware to my strengths such as being able to motivate and engage young minds and implement instructional activities. My strong connections with scholars, families, and colleagues benefitted my classroom and the school community as well.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am experienced in understanding the complexity of the CCSS. I have developed lessons and activities that cater to first and second graders and provided multiple differentiation and scaffolding opportunities for scholars to demonstrate proficiency or mastery of the standard. I know the CCSS entails higher order thinking throughout each grade to promote college career connections. The Common Core standards are a set of guidelines that are clear. My experience with the CCSS aims in developing the critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills students will need to be successful. I am able to track student progress in a meaningful way.
I am familiar with the instructional resources and materials provided by the state of Georgia. The resources I've used align with the required standards and helped me with strategies that I use in my instruction to support my students' needs and interests. I have attended numerous workshops and professional development for the Common Core Standards in New Jersey and Georgia.
I am a highly certified teacher that is aware of the remediations needed for each child.

I have used programs such as Building Vocabulary, Words Their Way, and Orton Gillingham in my classroom. I've used some programs from Jolly Phoncis as a supplementary piece in my instruction. Scholars learn their active manipulation of phonemes.
