About Miesha

Hello students!

My name is Miesha but most people just call me Mi. I am a Texas resident, but have lived in Georgia for 3 1/2 years. I attended elementary, middle, and high school in various states, but I spent my last year of high school in Fayetteville, GA. I completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Microbiology with minors in Chemistry and Arabic at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. I have been involved in academics for most of my life and have held a strong interest in science since I was young. These interests and my extensive volunteering experience in hospitals have drawn me towards the field of medicine. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Biomedical Sciences at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine- GA Campus in Suwanee, GA and hope that in due time I will pursue my MD/DO.

I love teaching/tutoring because it helps me strengthen my academics as I help others develop a strong foundation in theirs. I started tutoring in the biological sciences when I was in undergrad and have helped many different students in my grade level and younger. From this experience, I learned that as I was tutoring others, my understanding of concepts and mechanisms in the sciences were improving.

In college, I took a wide range of different subjects and classes including Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Sociology, Arabic, English, History, Economics, and a very wide variety of Biology courses. I spent time organizing study sessions with classmates and students each week to help review material from that week and to go over any questions they had. I also held multiple special review sessions before midterms and final exams. I can also help others with test preparation and developing effective study skills.

Tutoring is a passion of mine. I strive to not only teach students the concepts and skills they need to perform well, but also to get them interested in the subject matter. I love to show students how to really apply what they are learning and making connections to various topics on a broad spectrum. I have recently gone through the schooling system myself and I know which strategies work, which concepts are tough, and what students ordinarily find difficulty in. I can tutor in the afternoons/evenings on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I can meet with you at any local coffee shop, library, or public location. I am very patient and will take the time to make sure that you understand the material you need to learn. If you are looking for a reliable and patient tutor for science subjects and improving your study skills, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

American History is something I have always enjoyed. My father is a huge history guru and although I did not major in this topic I do know a significant amount of history and it is something I am willing to help a student with if need be. I also received As in all my undergrad general education history classes.

Biology

I have taken nearly all the early undergraduate courses and have taken courses such as General Biology, Genetics, Genetics of Microorganisms, etc. I have also helped several students and assisted them in their studies. I just finished my Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology course in my Master's and the information is very fresh in my head.

Chemistry

One of my minors during my undergrad was Chemistry and I have taken several chemistry courses throughout college.

Ecology

I took an upper level division course during my undergrad in both Ecology and Microbial Ecology. Afterwards I spend 2 years doing research with my Microbial Ecology professor.

Genetics

I have taken nearly all the early undergraduate courses and have taken courses such as General Biology, Genetics, Genetics of Microorganisms, etc. I have also helped several students and assisted them in their studies. I have taken nearly all the early undergraduate courses and have taken courses such as General Biology, Genetics, Genetics of Microorganisms, etc. I have also helped several students and assisted them in their studies.
