Spelman College (B.A. in Art)
I am a certified middle grades teacher with experience as a Math Remediation instructor where I tutored 6th throught 8th grade students as a secondary math connections teacher. I have worked with students who have opted out of my class because of the effectiveness of the course. Previously tutoring other students in math, it is my pleasure to encourage higher achievement in areas where a student requires extra nurturing and care.
It is my absolute pleasure to offer tutoring services not only to help build satisfactory skills in the rudimentary subjects of reading, math, and science but in motivating and building the student's overall confidence. Tutoring for me is my way of mentoring young minds and giving young people their best chance of hope that will positively affect their future aspirations and dreams.
The subjects that I offer to tutor are Elementary Level Math, Reading, Science, Language Arts, and Writing (including Creative Writing). Building study skills is another service made available for students in Elementary through High School grade levels; this includes ACT and SAT preparation. Furthermore, I offer services to help students in motivational, public speaking along with an array of other areas where tutoring and coaching is necessary. I am open to the challenge of learning and acquiring skills in order to tutor students in other subject areas that I may not directly offer, as well.
Furthermore, my other areas of expertise are visual arts, focusing specifically on drawing, painting and computer art, as well as arts-n-craft projects. With a degree in fine arts, I find tutoring as a wonderful way of sharing my passion for art with others.
I am also available to help students from the Elementary to College-level who are taking classes in Art History. With great commitment, students will learn the importance of Art History and how to be successful within that particular classroom setting. As an artist, tutoring on these subjects is the same as sharing a part of who I am; the subject areas are more personal and will be easy to teach in the way the student can best understand.
I enjoy taking advantage of opportunities to share with young people the power of knowledge and offer innovative tools to bring out their greatest potential. As a mentor in my local community, I enjoy changing the lives of young people through motivational speaking, teaching, and simply cultivating genuine relationships with each of them. I hope to carry these amazing experiences as a mentor into the field of tutoring. Greetings,

Jessica cares about how you learn and the accent so that you don't sound awkward when speaking to native speakers. My son has only taken 2 lessons and already knows much about Spanish and the greetings. We look forward to the next lesson. She is very patient and soft-spoken, also very smart. We have already learned around 120 words and how to pronounce them in Spanish. She is very nice and easy to understand and lets you take as long as you want on learning Spanish so that you don't feel too rushed or too slow. My son already knows accents and greetings with long words. I highly recommended Jessica for anyone looking to learn Spanish.
Jessica teaches the basics of drawing to my twin daughters. She makes it fun and educational at the same time. She is methodical while playful and very encouraging. Great tutor!
Jessica is a great tutor. My daughter's math grades and confidence have improved dramatically since she's started tutoring with Jessica. Jessica is very patient, flexible, and professional. I highly recommend her!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am a Middle Grades Math Teacher, Remediation Teacher here for Gwinnett County Public Schools.
I am a recent graduate with a bachelor's degree. That accomplishment for every graduate requires that to have taken the ACT and SAT exams in order to eligible for college. In my tutoring experience, I have taught each of my students various study methods to help them enhance their skills in the areas of interest simply through the method of repetition and ongoing practice.
From elementary through middle grades, my students have benefited from my simple study methods, which include how to effectively make and use flash cards; how to take a subject and reteach it; and how one can reuse previous homework assignments to create practice tests and exams. Furthermore, I showed my students how to research online resources to aid them in additional practice.
As a camp counselor working with youth at summer camps - I implemented enrichment exercises that helped each of the campers in my class to retain skills learned in their previous grade.
