Hello, my name is Larry. I've been teaching now for 8 years. For the first 6 years I taught 5th and 6th grade math. For the past 2 years I've been teaching 8th grade math. I'm certified to teach grades 4-8 mathematics. In my first year at this middle school my team raised our students' crct scores from 49% to 71% of my students meet or exceed on the CRCT. I base my teaching method on building a strong foundation on the fundamentals of math and work from there. I would expect each student to take a diagnostic exam to determine exactly what they struggle with and that will be our starting point and we'll base any growth from that point. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Building a foundation in multiplication and division as well building a strong number sense. Developing the ability to work with fractions, decimals and percents and understanding that the 3 are interchangeable as well as being introduced to algebra and measurement.
