Hello! I am a former teacher and certified generalist educator for grades EC-6th with bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Spanish from Southern Methodist University and Kennesaw State University. Over the last four years, I've tutored a variety of ages and subjects at a private tutoring center and in one-on-one private lessons. My specialty is in high school and college chemistry and math. Hello! I am a former teacher and certified generalist educator for grades EC-6th with bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Spanish from Southern Methodist University and Kennesaw State University. Over the last four years, I've tutored a variety of ages and subjects at a private tutoring center and in one-on-one private lessons. My specialty is in high school and college chemistry and math. I have tutored courses in algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, high school and college general chemistry, quantitative analysis, and others.

Chemistry is a particular passion of mine, and I get really excited talking about it. I've been fortunate to have had excellent instructors who have inspired me to dig deeper into the subject. I have done research in environmental chemistry and physical chemistry/astrochemistry, participated in an undergraduate program with NASA, and worked as a lab assistant and lab technician.

I love helping students understand concepts that were previously confusing or frustrating. I know what an awesome resource a good tutor or teacher can be, so it brings me joy to know I am passing on that gift to others. I emphasize pattern-finding, metacognition, and reasoning in my lessons. This provides students with the tools they need to approach problems confidently and independently. I aim to explain concepts in a way that is accessible to all students. At the same time, I can go into more depth for the student who wants to have a deeper understanding of the topics. I do my very best to mold my lessons to fit students' needs and learning styles, and make them feel comfortable and less anxious.

Although I did not take College Algebra in my college courses, I have taken (along with high school algebra) college Precalculus with an A. Precalculus covers topics in algebra and trigonometry needed in order to succeed in higher-level math courses. I have since gone on to complete successfully Calculus I and Calculus II, both of which use algebra heavily. Algebra is a math subject that will follow you throughout your math career, and understanding it is a foundation for future success in higher level math courses.

At the time, I had recently returned to college as an adult and worked incredibly hard to re-master the mathematical concepts I had forgotten over that long hiatus between my original degree and now. I struggled at first, but my persistence and dedication paid off - I am now a very strong math student who has gone on to successfully complete Calculus II. I believe that the combination of my having had to tackle my own math challenges and my need to understand the reasoning behind math concepts rather than strictly rote memorization make me an excellent tutor for this subject. Not only am I willing to go into thorough explanation of the concepts, but I can also identify with the struggles of other students and hopefully show them that precalculus can be fun instead of stressful.

I returned to college for a STEM degree in 2017, not having had a math class in 14 years. It was scary. My very first class was trigonometry. I had many things I had to re-master after that long hiatus, and there were even a couple times when (I will not lie) I cried out of frustration. Three years later, I am a very strong math student who has now successfully completed Calculus II with an A and gone on to take Calculus-based quantum chemistry classes. I really enjoy math now (trigonometry happens to be one of my favorite math classes). As a trigonometry tutor, I have an advantage in that not only did I successfully tackle and master it, but I remember what it felt like to struggle. I hope that as a tutor I can help make trigonometry not as stressful and be an encouragement to you that you CAN do it!

Great tutor

Lindsay has been tutoring my daughter this semester for her Honors Chemistry class and she has been amazing. My daughter had a rough start this semester so we asked Lindsay for help. She has tutored her about once a week over the semester and has taken what was going to be a terrible class experience and made it a success. If we communicated with her the topics we were struggling with - she would research the topic and always come prepared to discuss the topic and assist my daughter in working through homework, lab writing and test prep. She was a huge help. She would often send my daughter links and videos on topics they had reviewed for additional tutoring. She could not have been more helpful and professional. The best part was that my daughter likes her - from the first time that they met my daughter felt very comfortable with Lindsay. This made a big difference - so she never felt stupid asking a question or telling her she did not understand something. I am so happy we found Lindsay and will continue working with her through the spring semester.

Lindsay is encouraging, patient, and went step-by-step through the Chemistry Lab.

Lindsay tutored my daughter in Chemistry Lab. Lindsay is extremely patient, knowledgeable, and quickly understands a student's academic challenge. My daughter has a much better understanding of the chemistry lab assignment.

Great tutor and answered all my questions

Lindsey helped with my chemistry lab. She was patient and made sure I understood each question before moving on. She helped me graph in excel. She even created my own folder for me to look back on our work.

Great Tutor, Very patient!

Helps me understand chemistry well, but could be a tad bit more organized. Very lenient with picking different tutor times though. Sometime spends too much time on unnecessary things that weren’t super relevant for the time being in my opinion. Overall useful tutor for chemistry. Give her a try! :)
