My enthusiasm for learning began at an early age and is the genesis for my love of Children's Literature and Reading. How fortunate I am to have the opportunity to work individually with students and share in their success!
As a tutor, I specialize in Elementary Language Arts and Math. I am an honors M.Ed. graduate in Early Childhood Education and earned additional ESOL Certification. As a former Classroom Teacher, I continually demonstrate my lifelong love of learning as evidenced by my recent achievement as an Orton-Gillingham Trained Tutor. Recognizing the advantages of a well-rounded education inside and beyond the classroom, I am also a Certified Children's Etiquette Consultant. I enjoy challenging each student, meeting their needs and completing mastery before moving on. Periodically, I provide assessments and progress reports to ensure consistent communication with parents.
Holding myself to high standards, you will find that I will ask for feedback. This is one way I can continually improve along with my students.
Flexibility is important, although I do maintain a 24-hour cancellation policy.
For younger students, often in-home tutoring has proven successful. If this is not convenient, I have discovered a local library private study room offers an ideal option for families and students. This venue provides a safe, secure and quiet environment to learn.
I look forward to hearing from you and how we can take the journey to success for your child together. She is so intuitive and she truly understood my children's needs. She exceeded my expectations. I will be working with her from now. She captured the kids attention until the final minute and had very creative ideas to keep them interested. The kids look forward to their next lesson. What a Relief!
I was so impressed with Julia. She contacted the teachers, had lesson plans prepared and homework for my child. She is tough and to the point but caring. She truly wants to see a child succeed. You can't go wrong with this tutor and I do plan to use her for my other child. I can see why see is so highly sought. Thank you Julia. The world would be a greater place with more teachers like you.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
