My love for education and engaging others in the learning process keeps me going and striving harder to reach the next individual who I may cross paths with. I have over 10 years working with children, teenagers, and young adults. I have and currently work with individuals with behavior or mental health disorders raging from ADHD, Aspergers, anxiety disorder, bipolar, and schizophrenia. I enjoy teaching reading and English to elementary and middle school-aged children. I also enjoy working with individuals who decide to go back to school and get their high-school diploma or GED. Along with assisting anyone with proper test preparation and continuing education.
I am trained in a county-wide reading program called "SRA," and have taught this particular reading program for over 8 years in both areas; decoding and comprehension.
I currently hold both a Bachelors and Masters degree, although I am not a state-certified teacher, I know every aspect of the classroom and what makes a child/learner thrive.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a co-teacher in a classroom for over 8 years in a behavior school. The population of children and teenagers I work with on a daily basis include children with ADHD- medicated and not medicated.
Additionally, I have a 13 year old son who was diagnosed with ADHD 7 years ago. I have been through the good and rough times with him, both academically and psychologically.
Working in a behavior school with children, teenagers, and young adults ranging from age 5-22, I've watched several student go from middle school to high school, and graduate, but cannot get out of the program. Therefore, it is our responsibility to continue to educate them by teaching basic life skills, how to properly fill out an application and/or submit their resume. I have worked with them by physically showing them how to dress for success, discussing arrival time for an interview, and proper job etiquette and safety.
I have conducted classes where I have taught social skills and meeting job qualifications, and knowing the job details, pay, benefits, and proper reporting procedures.
I have received training in a state-wide reading program and have been involved in continuing education in the area of reading each year. I conduct a daily 50 minute reading, decoding, and comprehension class everyday and have been for over 8 years.
I have worked with students and have watched them become more patient with themselves and their teachers when it comes to reading in front of others. I have also successfully watched as students confidence and reading level increase throughout the school year.
I have over 10 years working with children with special needs and/or behavior disorders. I am comfortable working with students with severe emotional behavior disorders (SEBD), ADHD, autism, bipolar, and other learning disabilities.
