About Selena

I am a middle grades special education teacher with 3+ years of teaching in both regular education and special education. I have taught all subjects, but have found my niche in the language arts. Because of my specialty in special education, I have learned how to identify weak areas and focus on the strengths of the student in order to overcome deficits. This will help students of all ability levels.

I enjoy tutoring in grammar, vocabulary, writing, response to literature, and state test prep. I prefer to tutor middle grades students, but will consider students in upper elementary or lower high school. (4th-10th grades)

As a special education teacher, I have access to many resources to improve student learning in all areas of the language arts.

I have taught in the common core setting since I became certified in 2013.

Please don't hesitate to contact me regarding your tutoring needs. The sooner we are connected, the sooner you can start seeing results!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have completed roughly 1 year of my Ed.S. degree in special education-general curriculum.
