Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Illustrator

I have a Bachelor's degree in Informatics and dual Associates degrees in web design, where I maintained A average in these subjects, even in advanced level courses.

Adobe InDesign

I have four years of experience using Adobe InDesign CS5.5. Most of my experience was creating brochures, pamphlets, booklets, postcards and other printed items for various reputable companies.

I worked as a graphic marketing designer for two years at a prominent University. During my employment, I created a 26-page recruitment catalog for their fraternity and sorority organization, as well as many other projects for Campus Life. I worked on projects such as tri-fold handouts, brochures, and postcards.

I have experience in setting up bleeds, layout designs creating and separating spreads that can be used across multiple pages, importing text from outside sources such as Microsoft Word, importing images and maintaining links to those images, creating special character text, typing text on a path using ascender, descended, baseline, and center formats, and much more.

Aside from my professional experience, I have continued studying the capabilities of this program through reading and self based online tutorial sites. I could offer a vast amount of insight to the way to master this program before it masters you.

Adobe Photoshop

I have five years of experience with Adobe CS4, CS5, CS6, and CC Photoshop. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Informatics and dual Associates degrees in web design and computer applications where I maintained “A” average in these subjects even in advanced level courses. I return to my college as a guest speaker sharing my technique on creating creative personalized brushes and effects with Photoshop and Illustrator. I have also complete many online courses aside from my formal education at a 2 year and 4 year college on this subject.

When it comes to Photoshop, I am a total GEEK! I spend countless hours in my spare time just doodling with this program and enjoy every minute of it. When I am not using it for boredom, I create magnificent ads, posters, flyers, and images for my business.

Algebra 1

While assisting students as a math tutor I am able to assist them with resources such as study guides and lessons that enable them to succeed at Algebra 1.

I have tutored numerous students in this level of math who have succeeded in their goals of passing the course with a higher grade than expected prior to tutoring with me.

I am confident that I have the knowledge of math necessary to assist students in Algebra 1.

Algebra 2

With persistence and strong studying habits, I was able to excel in courses such as Pre Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre Calculus, Calculus, Advanced Calculus, Abstract Math, and Statistics. I also studied many computer programming courses not related to math, but containing similar logic to most math courses.

Computer Programming

I attended Mercer University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Informatics Web Design. I excelled in this field and was nominated most outstanding student the year I graduated. I attended Southern Crescent Technical College and obtained dual Associates degrees in Web Design and Computer Applications. I took and excelled in courses that taught, HTML, HTML5, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Advanced PHP, C++, Advanced C++, Design Methodology, database and Dreamweaver. I have experience designing websites in Dreamweaver and Wordpress as well as many handcoded sites along the way. I enjoy building sites. I know about site optimization and site maintenance. I have maintained several sites among which were our local sheriffs department and local businesses. I currently maintain three personal sites. I am currently meeting my my pastor at my church to design their new website. I feel confident that I can assist students with this area of expertise.

Drawing

Art is my passion. In my spare time I spend countless hours drawing. I first hand draw or sketch out the topic whether it is still life or abstract. Then either on the computer through the use of digital software or on canvas I am able to complete my vision of the artwork I desire to achieve. I use pastels, charcoal and graphic pencils, acrylique paints, as well as many adobe software programs to create various forms of artwork. The base of most of my graphic design projects begin on Stratmore artist papers through sketches created with Darwent graphic pencils. I am able to assist you with knowing the best products to use for the project as well as how to use them to create magnificent artwork. Everyone can be an artist, you just have to have the passion to be creative within.

Dreamweaver

I have five years of experience with Adobe CS4, CS5, CS6, and CC Dreamweaver. I attended a prominent University and Technical College where I completed both basic and advanced level courses on this subject. In addition to these courses I received additional online training through Lynda.com, and other various online education tutorial sites. I have dual Associate Degrees and a Bachelors of Science in Informatics, which required intensive experience and daily use of this program.

Aside from my education in this program, I also have experience through personal experience. I own my own business for the past six years where I design websites using this program on a daily basis.

I have created various websites not only through the use of templates within the program but have also hand coded through the use of HTML, PhP, and Javascript. When it comes to adding a flash video, importing and linking images, internal and external links, cascading style sheets, file management, designing a manageable site, modifying and personalizing a navigation bar to your own personal specifications, or just plain developing a web page. I am the tutor for you. This is what I love doing.

GED

My approach to tutoring is to identify the student's needs and offer solutions to help him or her in understanding the topic so that they are able to achieve the goals the set out to accomplish. I tutor students at a college level 5 days a week. I have resources from study guides to test taking strategies, that I can offer to assist them in studying the proper material necessary for preparing for the test.

Geometry

I feel I demonstrate excellent creativity in developing the most effective plans and learning materials in teaching all levels of math such as Pre Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Functions and Graphing, Geometry, Math 140-Logic & Probability, Statistics, Pre Calculus, Calculus, and Abstract. I currently work a math tutor at a private University to meet the needs of undergraduate college students seeking their bachelor’s degree.

I develop various lesson plans to cater to the needs of each individual learner and assure appropriate learning by expertly providing supplemental materials to the various courses offered at the college, in doing this I assist the student by improving students’ participation and interaction through valuable resources.

I also work collaboratively with teachers to work as a partnership in improving the learning environment. I continuously evaluate my curricula, teaching methods, and programs and adjust to meet the needs of each course. I accurately maintain records of each students progress that I tutor while creating various reports and documentation that outline the effectiveness and efficiency of each lesson I give.

Graphic Design

I own my own business where I design screen print as well as printed designs. I also design ads for a digital media company. I have worked at both for over two years. Prior to that I worked as the graphic media designer for Mercer University where I designed posters, brochures, and flyers for campus life concerts and events such as sports. I also graduated top of my class in informatics as most outstanding student.

HTML

HTML is one of many computer languages I was able to master while in college attaining a bachelor degree in Web Design.

As the owner of a web design business, it is necessary to know these programs inside and out.

I not only have experience creating websites through hand-coded HTML, I also have experience creating websites through the use of other programming langugages such as XHTML, HTML5, PHP, CSS, and databases.

Logic

I currently serve in a math tutoring position at a college where I assist undergraduate students in Math 140 and abstract math both of which are math courses where Logic is taught.

I assist students in the understanding and comprehension of these topics through the assistance of study guides and worksheets, that I personally create.

I completed college level courses in this topic and received A's. I feel I have a broad understanding of the topic and feel confident that I am able to break it down to a level where a lay person is able to relate to it.

Microsoft Publisher

I not only have experience, using Publisher, but (for those iMac users where publisher is not available) I also have experience using Pages. Both Publisher and Pages have a variety of layout designs to work with from stock templates. However, nothing says personal for those jobs you're applying to like a sample of your own creativity on your resumes and cover letter. Not only can you create fabulous job search materials, but you also can create envelopes, newsletters, posters, cards, invitations, certificates, or your very own business cards with these two programs.

Microsoft Word

After completing college level courses in Computer Information Systems, I was able to achieve a higher level of expertise with Microsoft Word. I have over 20 years experience using the program and through daily use have been able to master most anything it is able to do. I have assisted many students with attaining the skills necessary to complete both MLA and APA term formatting, text wrap around photos on flyers, and most recently new teachers with lesson plan formatting. I have assisted in many areas besides those listed as well. I use this program daily and feel confident that I am the tutor for this topic.

Prealgebra

I have daily experience working with students in Prealgebra. I assist them in various methods of learning through teaching the basics of Algebra from the order of operations to factoring equations. I also assist the students with study techniques that enable them to increase their ability to retain the information they are encountering, such as setting attainable goals, time management, and basic test taking skills. Through diligence they are able to achieve the goals which they set.

Public Speaking

While attending college, I was selected in the top 1% of my graduating class and nominated to enter a competition for Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership to be the spokesperson for the college based on my speaking abilities.

The key to being a great speaker is to know your audience. Begin with determining your purpose and generating the main idea. After gathering verbal and visual materials you are set to layout an organized systematic approach to speaking freely, ethically, and responsibly.

Whether it is a impromptu speech allowing little or even no preparation, or the opening speech in front of thousands you will be prepared following these techniques.
