Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

As a 20 year educator, I've taught numerous students with ADD/ADHD successfully. Additionally, both of my 2 children have ADD/ADHD. Currently, I am writing a book on how to help students with these deficiencies to succeed, since they are brilliant!

Career Development

Over the years, as an educational administrator (K-12), I've counseled numerous high school students on selecting their appropriate career path. A pre-assessment career survey generally helps students to determine their areas of interests & strengths. Then, they must explore several options within a general field of study. After which, students must narrow down their options to an area of specialty.

Each year, I've truly enjoyed conducting job/career fairs, in order to expose my students to a variety of career options available. My students must've appreciated the guidance because they nominated me for the "Youth Director of the Year" Award.

I believe that everyone is good at something. But finding that niche is the challenge. I love helping students to realize their potential for greatness!

Common Core

As a master teacher for over 20 years, I've taught numerous students on various curriculum standards such as the Common Core (CCGPS), & QCC. Each year, my students have consistently met and/or exceeded the standards on standardized tests in all subject content areas. I especially enjoy teaching Math, Language, & Essay Writing (in K-5).

Elementary (K-6th)

In addition to having a BA Degree in Elementary Education & an M.Ed., as a 20 year Master Teacher, I specialize in student achievement for children (in grades K-8). Each year, I receive numerous accolades for my students' exceptional standardized testing results and performance based assessment results.

Phonics

Oftentimes, children have difficulty with Reading because they struggle with Phonemic Awareness & Vocabulary, which is the foundation. However, once a child understands the fundamentals, then Reading becomes a lot easier to grasp. In addition to my students, I taught my own 2 children Phonics & Vocabulary at an early age & they are now exceptional readers & public speakers, which began at age 4.

Public Speaking

Currently, as a National Educational Consultant/Trainer, I travel and train school districts on classroom management strategies. It is crucial to have exceptional oral/written communication skills, in order to relay the message effectively. For this exact reason, I was hired. And the massive audiences that I've spoken before have only sharpened my speaking skills. Therefore, this qualifies me.

Social Studies

Oftentimes, children don't appreciate Social Studies because of how it was taught in school. However, each year my students have always commented on how much fun my Social Studies classes were and how much they've grown to enjoy it, while learning about their rich American heritage. I would love to spark a child's interest.

Study Skills

After teaching literally thousands of children within 20 years, I've helped students to gain proper study skills and acquire organizational skills that has ensured success!

Voice (Music)

In addition to receiving professional voice training in college, as well as Music Theory, I've also been singing, since I was 4 years old. My experience ranges from singing in professional traveling choirs, to various Ensembles, Quartets, Trios & Solos in front of massive audiences. In college, my traveling choir was selected to sing before President Bill Clinton.
