Dear Parents and Students, I am here to help you gain knowledge and insight to strengthen you academically. I am very committed to the field of education. I hold a Master’s degree in Reading and a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I tutor students of all ages. Most students need help building their basic skills and some students just want to refresh their skills. In either case, be assured you’re not alone. Teaching is one of my greatest passions. I make learning fun and exciting. I use creative methods to aid students in the learning process, for instance students are provided math and reading hands-on materials to promote abstract understanding. I enjoy it when students have a desire to learn. There is a bright light that comes on that allows them to receive new information. I believe students learn in different developmental stages. I plan and teach lessons that enhance students’ ability to make connections to skills and concepts. It is important for students to receive one-on-one tutoring, when they are experiencing weaknesses in a subject. This allows the students to fill in the gaps necessary to obtain grade level assignments. As times have changed greatly in the educational systems, parents may feel overwhelmed with the many tests their students have to take. It is important for students to learn the appropriate grade level standards in order to pass their standardized tests. I will examine the students’ subject assessment to determine their area of weakness. Also, parents may specify areas their students may need help with.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I pride myself in planning, preparing and delivering instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences. I instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. I use appropriate technology to support instruction. My instructional plans and activities are changed based on the needs of my students. It is important for me to communicate necessary information regularly to students and parents, as it relates to the students’ progress and/or needs.
