About Becky

Bio

I have experience as a kindergarten teacher and teacher's aide and I have been in early education for over 10 years. I love the look on a child's face when they finally grasp the concept I'm teaching. I believe that learning can be fun, stimulating and challenging without being boring. We are all born with God given gifts and I believe mine is teaching children.

As a kindergarten teacher's aide and teacher, I have learned many techniques for reaching a variety of learners. Students do not all learn the same, so a good teacher will find the best tool to reach each student. I have been a substitute teacher in the early grades teaching phonics, reading, addition, subtraction, money and telling time and believe all students can learn. A good teacher does what is needed to find the best way to learn for each student.
Phonics,

Phonics

I have taken the course, "Reading First" which gives the teacher the tools needed to teach phonics, phonemic awareness, and reading comprehension. Although sight word recognition is important in learning to read, understanding phonics and possessing the knowledge of letter sounds and the ability to sound words out is just as important.
