Indiana University Bloomingon (Master's)
Greetings everyone, I am Lorenzo. I was born and raised in Americus, Georgia (THE DEEP SOUTH). My hometown is about seven miles from the birthplace of the 39th President of the United States - Jimmy Carter. The world isn't so big after all? Being from a small well-knit community has fostered great growth for me and has encouraged me to take risks by stepping outside of my comfort zone and traveling from state to state to further my education. I attended the University of Arizona, where I earned my B.S. in Literacy, Learning and Leadership. This degree may sound foreign to you all but that is because it was a new program that has its starting roots at the UA. I actually want to teach in my near future. I am a recent graduate from a premier AmeriCorps program in Douglasville, Georgia where I was fortunate to serve at-risk youth through Youth Villages. Youth Villages is a PRTF (psychiatric residential treatment facility) for youth that have had pretty rough lives which has led to criminal arrests, drug abuse and removal from public school. I provided adolescent girls with tutoring in the areas of math and literacy. It was an amazing experience that I will take with me wherever I go in life.
I have written many papers during the course of my college career and see writing as another highly and necessary form of communication for students to master.
I also enjoy reading and practicing the mastery of sound/letters.
I was quite the student back in my P-12 days. Although I have not worked on some of these subjects in some time, I'm more than willing to relearn and brush up in areas to meet your child's educational needs. Greetings everyone, I am Lorenzo. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have an extensive background in reading. I received my Bachelor's degree in Literacy, Learning, and Leadership. Over time, I have successfully tutored several elementary/middle school students with their pronunciation of vowels, reading comprehension, and vocabulary building. Overall this has increased the confidence of my students both inside and outside the classroom.
