Ashton not only knows his subjects — in my case, computers — but he is a very personable and pleasant young man. His explanations were clear, he was very patient, and he is an excellent teacher. Based on the success of my first session, I plan to continue my tutoring sessions with him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My first PC back in 1994 was an MS DOS computer. I've worked with that OS for many decades. I still run DOS on one of my systems, for legacy applications. I have constructed a recreation of my old machine, complete with all the old DOS applications and even a functioning Win 3.1 shell. Free software allows for integration with my current generation hardware.
I've been using Macintosh computers my whole life, some of the very first machines I used were Macs. I'm familiar with OSX Tiger, Leopard and Lion. I have, at various times, been called on to repair these devices, and set them up after purchase. My current Mac system is a 2008 Macbook Pro.
I studied video production at the College of Charleston as part of my Communications degree. This course required me to help run the camera during a broadcast of the college's weekly sports show. I also produced and edited a student film, which was displayed by the professor for many years after my graduation as an example of technique.
