University of Georgia (Finance)
I graduated from the University of Georgia in December of 2015 after 3 1/2 years of studying Finance and International Business. While I greatly enjoyed being exposed to the business world and investing, my passion and dream has always been to serve my country as a Pilot for the U.S Air Force.
Through hard work I have made this dream a reality and I am on track to ship off to training in the Spring of 2017. Academic success was a huge part of making this dream a possibility and, until I am able to begin my training, I cannot think of a better way to spend my time than assisting younger students reach academic success and making their dreams a reality as well.
Through high school and as a finance student at UGA, math has always been a strong subject of mine and something I enjoyed; however, I recognize it can be one of the toughest courses for students and I always enjoyed helping peers understand the material we were covering in class. That said, I am confident I could help a student improve in most subjects and would be willing to work with any student from Elementary to High School level.
I recognize I do not have significant experience in the area of tutoring students. I am just entering the job market and have not had any previous teaching experience. However, what I do have is the very fresh, recent experience of high school and college and know what it takes to be successful in this environment.
I graduated in the top 3% of my high school class and Magna Cum Laude with Honors from the University of Georgia. As a recent graduate I can strongly relate to the students perspective and remember what it is like studying for those tests and spending late nights preparing for classes. I am confident that, through my experiences and study skills I have learned, I can be a very valuable asset to your student as he or she works to be the best student they can be. I understand there are many tutors out there and taking a chance on someone with lesser experience is a risk. To help with this, I would be very willing to offer your first tutor session free. This would give us an opportunity to meet, look into the subject in which you need tutoring, and determine if I would be the best person to assist you in this area.
Working hard at academics and developing positive study and learning habits since elementary school has allowed me to make the career dreams I had when I was 8 years old a reality. I have seen education pave bright futures for so many of my peers as well and am confident the same is possible for every student out there willing to put in the work and focus. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
