About Eric

From elementary education to theater and design skills, I have education in many fields. My name is Eric M. and I pride myself on being a Jack of all trades. I spend my 9 to 5 occupation as a Special Education Pre K teacher. I have a passion for early childhood education and doing my part to see the younger generation thrive in development.

I currently hold a degree in Early Childhood Development with an emphasis in Special Needs. I am currently pursuing another degree in Early Childhood Education. I am a certified canoe instructor and a wilderness first aid responder. In my free time and freelance work I can be found on the stage performing, behind the scenes designing set and event space, cooking from the heart, rock climbing, and anything outdoors!

I enjoy the belief of always growing and learning and I want to help you succeed on your path in continuous exploration of education and desires! I have a strong knowledge in sensory development and understanding the best way to help a child succeed in their developmental domains based on a unique individual lesson plan. I take the spice of life to a new level! I enjoy learning, sharing, and teaching others my unique style of cooking that usually involves taking different ethnic staple dishes and finding ways to create them with healthier options and adjusting them for different dietary restrictions. I also like to create beautiful dishes that look amazing for any dinner party!

I have been in the theater world since I was a young child. I have performed in over 45 productions and have had the amazing opportunity to learn from some of the most fabulous directors in the southeast. I have my own style of directing and an eye for noticing the difference of what makes a good performer and an AMAZING performer. I have over 15 years experience as an actor, set designer, director, and choreographer! Learning from me is not only a tutoring session but an EXPERIENCE! Learning should be fun and interactive! I have had my hand in many different pots and I would love the opportunity to share with you from the education and experience I have in order to see you gain knowledge and progress in your area of learning!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I am qualified in teaching methods in behavior management, education in developmental domains for the special needs child, expertise in social disorders and planning educational track for children dealing with ADD/ADHD. I teach specific models for dealing with behaviors and how to work together to find success in education. I specialize in reinforcement strategies that help children learn and succeed while gaining improvement in learning capacity and positive behavior growth. My style of teaching with ADD/ADHD involves finding out the type of learner the child/adult is at first and then converting the work into their unique learning style in order to keep them engaged and interactive.

Autism

During the day, I am a SPed Pre K teacher working with Down syndrome, autism, fragile X, and other special needs. My individual approach to working with Autism involves learning about the child at first in order to assess their needs and developmental levels in order to formulate the best way to keep the student engaged when learning.

Cooking

I specialize in finding unique ways to cook dishes of many ethnic varieties. I enjoy experimenting with taking recipes and staple dishes to the next level by finding ways to convert them into different meals based on healthier ingredients and finding ways to cook them based on different dietary restrictions (gluten free, kosher, vegan, paleo, etc.) I teach how to find the best ingredients for the best price, the best way to meal prep, and how to cook dishes in a fun and exciting style!
