About Karriem

When you hire me you get all my 20 years of experience teaching English to people who speak other languages. I teach all levels equally well, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or an advanced student I challenge you to learn more and be better at using my language of American English. I learned English from my mother who was an accomplished classical pianist. Although I didn't learn how to play the piano she taught me how to read, write, and spell American English words.

I lived for nearly 15 years in the Middle East and I not only taught English but in 2005 I developed an English program in Damascus, Syria that continues until today. Although I was evacuated from Syria in 2011 I maintain contact with a dear friend of mine at the program. I interviewed, hired, trained and supervised 20 teachers. Most of my teachers were native speakers from Canada, Australia, Britain and the United States but I also trained native Syrians to teach English. So, when you hire me I will conduct an assessment of your strengths and weaknesses and you are guaranteed to improve if you do what I tell you to do.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
