Case Western Reserve University (Master's)
My name is Trung and I graduated from Emory in 2013. I have over 4 years of experience in tutoring math and science. My tutoring experience began in high school with one of my favorite teachers Mrs. M. After school, I usually came and talked to Mrs. M about my plans for college. When she didn't have time to talk to me because several students needed help with their chemistry homework, I thought that I could help her out so she wouldn't spend all the time with them.
Hence I asked Mrs. M to take a few students aside to start a new group and she graciously allowed me to do so in her own classroom. It wasn't until a week later when Mrs. M told me that those underclassmen whom I had helped improved their performance on their test for that unit.
In college, I had many opportunities to explore tutoring in different settings. As a freshman, I really enjoyed group studying. It was almost like trivia time; I got to ask and answer questions with my friends. I said "almost" because I didn't get any prize for winning; unless you consider bragging rights a mundane trophy of some sort. From sophomore year to senior year, I tutored science and mentored an underprivileged high school student through a program sponsored by Emory School of Medicine.
Over the years, I have found different ways to efficiently deliver challenging concepts to students of different backgrounds. My goal is not only to prepare you for the next test you have to take, but also to give you a fundamental understanding in that particular subject matter. When you understand something, you simply just don't forget it, even under great pressure in the testing room.
In addition, I'm very patient and personable. I love talking about students' high school experience, extra curricula, and college admission. As long as you are willing to put in the hard work, you will succeed! And I'd love to be a part of your success story. Please contact me for more information. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
