About Donique

Nothing is more rewarding to me than seeing a student have that "aha!" moment. After battling through their semester then finally realizing that patience, hard work and dedication is all that is required to achieve a solid grasp of concepts, its fulfilling to me as a tutor to be there to share in that experience. Those ear to ear grins and long awaited life long understanding of a particular subject is what inspires me to be a tutor.

I have been a tutor in Mathematics and Science (including Biology, Anatomy, Chemistry, Organic chemistry and Microbiology) for both High School and College level students for 4 years. The high school students I taught were those preparing for their LEAP exams and their final reports always indicated a 90% pass rate or higher. I was also a teaching assistant in Anatomy and Physiology during my graduate school education where I taught undergraduate students (alongside the instructor) who were prospective pharmacy and nursing track students.

I completed undergrad with honors (summa cum laude) and a bachelors degree in biology with chemistry minor. I also graduated from my Masters program with a 3.9 GPA and a MS in Molecular cell biology.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have always had a knack for mathematics which influenced me taking advance proficiency mathematics classes in high school. This transpired into my college education where I took required mathematics classes as well as advanced classes which I pursued as electives. I earned A's in all mathematics classes including college algebra, pre-calculus, calculus I and calculus II. Consequently I was recommended to become a mathematics peer tutor in college; I did this for 4 years of my undergraduate experience. Additionally, I dedicated my Saturdays to tutoring high school and elementary school students in Mathematics in order to prepare them for their LEAP exams.

Anatomy

I have always been a science fanatic! I concentrated on sciences in high school as I desire to become a medical doctor hence upon enrolling in college, I pursued biology as my major. I graduated college with 4.0 science GPA and highest academic honors (summa cum laude). I was also awarded with the title of highest STEM GPA in my graduating class. I went on to further my education and received my masters in molecular cell biology with a 3.98 GPA.

During my graduate education, I was a teaching assistant assigned to work with students in Anatomy and Physiology I&II. I assisted the students in understanding or drilling in long term memory the locations and functions of organs/structures on the body. I also was responsible for preparing their laboratory sessions (dissections) and grading examinations.

Biology

I have always been a science fanatic! I concentrated on sciences in high school as I desire to become a medical doctor hence upon enrolling in college, I pursued biology as my major. I graduated college with 4.0 science GPA and highest academic honors (summa cum laude). I was also awarded with the title of highest STEM GPA in my graduating class. I went on to further my education and received my masters in molecular cell biology with a 3.98 GPA.

In college, I was among the few select students to tutor in general biology, microbiology, genetics and cell biology. I dedicated my free time to tutoring my peers for the 4 years of my undergraduate experience.

Chemistry

My undergraduate degree in biology was complimented with a minor in chemistry hence alongside tutoring in biology, I also tutored my peers in general chemistry, analytical chemistry and organic chemistry for the entire duration of my undergraduate education.
