About Arzell

My creative flames were first fanned in my mothers kitchen with a box of Crayolas, a pencil and watercolors at age 5. I became a professional artist at the age of 7 with the sale of my first painting and became a National Award winning recipient in the sixth grade. My artistic journey continued with many art education classes which increased my skills and my love of art. Teaching for me is a way to assist and share my inter artistic knowledge while developing a art students individual style. Passion, pursuit, pride and professional results go into every composition.

I have several decades of experience as a professional artist. I graduated with a 3 year art degree from Norman Rockwell's "Famous Artist course". I was a graphic illustrator in the U.S. Air Force for four years. I'm presently teaching traditional painting and app art at Hobby Lobby in Duluth, Ga. I inspire my students to learn with my self taught abilities presenting app finger painting in my classes and workshops. I facilitate art instruction at many community events such as Art Week in Duluth, Ga and student workshops at Johns Creek Art Academy in Johns Creek, Ga.

My skills include exceptional proficient instruction in portraits, abstracts, landscapes, seascapes, water colors, still life, pen and ink sketches, photography, and illustrations. My tools of the trade consist of the use of brushes, pallet knife and sponges.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Painting

As a teacher for several years at Hobby Lobby, my instruction techniques have produced finished, proven creations over a 5 week period, teaching students drawing, acrylic and pallet knife paintings.

I started my art devoted journey at the age of five. I'm a national and international artist. My paintings are of a part of The Paul R. Jones Collection of American Art. My education portfolio consists of a three year art degree from The Famous Artist School, founded by Norman Rockwell. While in the U.S. Air Force I was a graphics illustrator for 4.5 years. My first civilian job title was as a technical illustrator for three years.

My teaching theory is to offer a stress-free approach in the classroom and to enhance students (beginner to advanced) proficiency to complete paintings in a consistent time frame.

Preferred students ages are middle and high school, college students and adults.

My proficiency includes abstract, portraits, landscapes, seascapes, and water color paintings, still life, sketch artistry, and photography.
