About Lamesa

Greetings friends! My name is Lamesa, but I insist that you call me Missy. I am currently a student at the University of Georgia majoring in Spanish. After graduation, I would like to join a radiology program and further my education in the medical field.

I have had a ton of experience teaching and speaking in Spanish. I have worked in two Mexican restaurants, tutored students, and taught Hispanic speaking parents English. I love the language, and after taking Spanish classes for the past six years, I understand how to explain certain concepts in a simpler way. The language and the culture is definitely my passion. I love to cook, sing, and dance. I am definitely not the best at either, but I definitely think that having fun is the most important part.

That is enough about me though. I really enjoy tutoring students that are eager to learn. My tutoring method is similar to my own studying method. It is really important to be in a comfortable environment in order to gain the most from the tutoring session. I like to speak with my students to learn about them, what they are having difficulty with, and their goals. After learning their goals, I like to set up a type of agenda that way the student and I know where we are going. The agenda does not have to be extravagant or confusing. I have found that setting and building on smaller goals has achieved better results.

I am a very patient, understanding, fun, and focused person. The best part of tutoring is seeing my student's face light up when they understand a concept. I know how it is to feel frustrated, and I am good at overcoming obstacles in the learning process.
I hope to see you guys soon!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
