About NJ

My educational background includes a bachelor's degree and 3 graduate degrees (including a doctorate), with national certifications and content licenses. What does one do with all of that? SHARE the knowledge!

I'm a nationally certified interpreter for the Deaf through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, possessing both professional and educational interpreter certifications. I've been signing for over 20 years and taught adults and children.

From my education and teaching experience, I am attuned to adapting to various learning styles. I frequently reflect and assess to ensure that students are learning, every step of the way.

Also, I'm a nationally certified instructor of basic Cued Speech/Cued American English through the National Cued Speech Association.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Hard Of Hearing

I obtained two graduate degrees from Gallaudet University (AuD and MS), the only liberal arts university for the Deaf in world. My doctorate degree is in audiology (hearing and balance) and master's is in hearing, speech, and language sciences.

I'm a nationally certified interpreter for the Deaf through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, possessing both professional and educational interpreter certifications (NIC and Ed:K-12). I've been signing for over 20 years and I have taught sign language to adults and children.

From obtaining a MEd (Regent University) and teaching experience (special education students), I am attuned to adapting to various learning styles.

Microsoft Outlook

For many years I have used Microsoft Outlook in the workplace: setting calendar appointments, signatures, drafting emails, using cc/bc, saving contacts, searching users, select stationary, use background/foreground colors, highlighting, various font types, font colors, etc.

Proofreading

I have taught special education English to middle-school students, a highly-qualified teacher in English, and a published author of my doctoral capstone that I wrote and did the majority of proofreading myself.

Sign Language

I obtained two graduate degrees from Gallaudet University (AuD and MS), the only liberal arts university for the Deaf in world. My doctorate degree is in audiology (hearing and balance) and master's is in hearing, speech, and language sciences.
