About Karen

Children grow to love learning when they are engaged, challenged, and having fun. In the classroom, I love to use literature and games to foster a lifelong love of learning in the students I serve.

I have been certified to teach P-5 since 1994. Since earning my BS in Early Childhood Education, I have taught 4 years in the Head Start Program, 1 year as a GED instructor, 8 years in the Bibb County School system, and served 8 years as a Special Instructor with the Babies Can't Wait Early Intervention Program. This program serves special needs children and their families, and I was privileged to interact with numerous families in their home helping them to understand their child's development and how to best help them meet their next milestones. While teaching, I returned to graduate school and earned my MS in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in Special Education. I have taught math in the Bibb County afterschool program.I look forward to the opportunity to serve the student in your family.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
