I find that many math students know a thing or two about valid methods, but they often aren't familiar with the underlying logical foundations. I like to start by covering these foundations with clear definitions and examples to promote more confidence and flexibility in the student's approach. I thoroughly enjoy helping students see with clarity in mathematics. This is accomplished with a combination of nuts-and-bolts logic, plain language, insightful visualizations, and practicing together with direct feedback.
I find that students develop scientific thinking naturally with a few doses of cause-and-effect rationality, curiosity, and attention to detail. We'll follow the logic of evidence-driven hypothesis testing, what constitutes a scientific hypothesis, and the core principles of scientific methods. When covering science, I will often share with students a quick aside related to recent discoveries or human health. For standardized tests, I especially love leveraging the structure of the exam to help students quickly solve each little puzzle. Here, we discuss a number of strategies including the clearest and the quickest possible routes.
Please get in touch if you think we'd be a good match. If you can, please include information on the course material, the student's background, dates available, desired frequency, location, and any special needs or requests. I'm looking forward to guiding you on your intellectual journey!
