I've always thought that people aren't smart because they're naturally smart, or because they're good at taking tests - people are smart because they continually want to learn. I try to foster that attitude in all students and to help people get excited about a subject in a way that they'd want to continue delving into it in their own time. I've found when students manage to find their own interests within a subject, their scores improve naturally.
I've had 3 years of formal teaching experience in Japan teaching elementary, middle school and adults in English. I've also worked professionally as a writer for the past three years, working on everything from creative writing to preparing business materials to proofreading essays and blogs.
While in school I wrote extensive academic pieces while in school, receiving high marks and praise on all of them. I'm very comfortable with the written word, and especially essays and can help you figure out the key points of structuring your argument and your essay to make it a truly effective piece.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been working as a professional writer for the past 3 years, working on editing, creative writing, business writing and academic writing. I know not only what it takes to write a good essay or analysis, but to make it "pop". I'm passionate about sharing my love of writing and literature with my students.
I studied film in the UK for three years receiving a 1:1 for my degree (roughly a 3.8/4.0 HOW equivalent). For the course I worked on both practical and theoretical work including a 50 page dissertation and many long form essays that all required publishable standards for citation. I've also written numerous screenplays and other pieces of film production paperwork.
Currently, I still work in and around the film industry. I am happy to help with either aspect, creative or theoretical, of film.
I've been working professionally as a writer for three years, and have worked on creative projects, business materials, editing blogs, and everything in between! I love sharing my love of writing with students, and really work to cultivate their own unique style.
