Dear Parents and Students,
I have over 14 years of experience as a certified Intervention Teacher Assistant and Tutor. I specialized in teaching children to read in Elementary Education grades Pre-K through 3rd in Georgia. I started as a Substitute Teacher and Tutor in grades Pre-K through 12th in 1999.
I currently teach and tutor at an Expeditionary Learning School that combines rigorous academic content and real world projects called Learning Expeditions (my students learn hands on). I love teaching Reading, Handwriting Verbal Pathways, Phonics, Sight Words, Grammar, and Elementary Math all aligned with the English Language Arts and Math Common Core Georgia Performance Standards.
I have successfully taught hundreds of children many which learn English as a second Language (ESOL) to read or improve their reading and math skills. I am very patience and find most joy in seeing children beginning to read.
I will tutor your child or children one on one guided reading or letter/sound identification. I will teach them math according to the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. I enjoy teaching all age levels! Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach Elementary (K-6th) Education because I have taught as a Certified Intervention Assistant Teacher and Tutor for the last 14 years in Elementary Education. I teach Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Expeditionary Learning everyday in Mini Lessons and Whole Group. I started as a Substitute Teacher for Elementary grades. I manage the classroom of any grade level from K - 12th grades. I have taught students at various learning capacities, in both whole group and one-on-one, in Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and study skills. I currently teach and tutor Elementary children, many of whom have English as a Second Language(ESOL). I teach and tutor by repetition because we remember what we see through books, activity sheets, manipulative, tools, and other supplies. I tutor one-on-one or in small groups according to my students assessments and the grade level. I love teaching and tutoring my students.
I have been a certified intervention Assistant Teacher and Tutor. I tutor by repetition, showing the alphabet letter and a picture to produce the phonics sound. I teach phonics so my children can put the sounds together to learn to read. I have taught hundreds of children, of which many are currently English as a Second Language(ESOL), letters and sound recognition phonics to prepare them to read or read better. I am qualified to tutor in phonics because this is what I love and have done for the last 14 years. I teach whole groups and one-on-one. This is what I most enjoy doing as my specialty.
For the last 15 years I enjoy teaching and tutoring children in Reading everyday in the City of Decatur. I start teaching letters and their sounds first. Phonemic awareness and phonics helps my students develop a solid foundation in phonics, which they all start to read fluently and understand what they read. I love teaching this at all grade levels and to me it is the true recipe for reading!
