Atlanta College of Art
My experiences in Art Education began at a prominent preschool here in Georgia. Being a college grad and all, I had to reassess my approach to art in order to teach 2-6 year olds the art of self-portraits and Fine Art enrichment. There I learned how to remove the intimidation of art from the joy of creating. I went on to teach grades K-8th both in the public and private school sector. Currently I teach private lessons in visual arts and portfolio preparation for scholarship and gallery representation.
My career as an artist began soon after graduating from Atlanta College of Art with an exhibition in the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia's small gallery. Since then, my work has traveled nationally and received awards. I exhibit regularly and have gallery representation.
What you can expect from tutoring:
I tutor according to the need and wants of the student. I normally teach the principles of art through a series of still lifes in natural and artificial light. My conceptual art lessons have a commercial art approach, requiring a lot of thinking and some writing for homework. Overall, the experience and goal is self-expression, for one must know self in order to create.
It is said that self-expression is a natural desire we all have and is one of the best ways to find peace of mind. My appointment as Art Educator is to cultivate an environment of self-expression through the arts. The initiative is to use fine art to influence life-skills of patience, research and confidence. Having these skills allow for a deeper learning capacity and better overall experience inside and outside the classroom. Dear Student,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My credentials in Art History is founded on my BFA from Atlanta College of Art.
I have a 9 pt average in Art History while in college. I utilize Art History everyday as a practicing artist, especially when scripting proposals.
My love for drawing began at 6 years old but became apart of my profession after graduating from Atlanta College of Art. The latter accumulates to be many years of experience putting pencil to paper in attempt to visualize an idea.
Drawing is of the same principles of painting yet exercises more freedom. I often draw in between paintings.
Painting is what led to my college. I began painting with watercolors in high school, then from there oils, acrylics and enamels.
While in college at Atlanta College of Art I learned many painting techniques: traditional and non-traditional.
I began my career as a realist painter and currently paint representational. I am skilled at both water-based and oil-based pigments.
