For College-Level students:
As a master’s student, I served as a TA for Multivariable Calculus at Johns Hopkins for one year, conducting recitations for students in sections of ~20 people. I also served as a TA for Developmental Genetics for one year, in which I taught a group of ~12 students to perform CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing. During this time, I also staffed my university’s Mathematics Help Room, providing impromptu 1-on-1 homework help to undergraduate students. Now, I serve as a TA for Real Analysis at Emory, where I work with 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students as well as graduate students. My mathematics specialization is in abstract algebra, and my biology specialization is in cellular oncology.
For High School students:
I worked as a teacher at C2 Education in Columbia, Maryland for one year, helping students with homework and standardized test prep in a 1-on-3 setting. I taught math, chemistry, biology, and physics at the HS level and helped students prepare for AP exams in AB/BC Calculus, Statistics, Chem, Physics 1/2/C, Biology, and Precalculus. I also worked as a Science Olympiad Mentor for 4 years at the MS and HS level. I have experience writing college essays - you can see my writing published under Johns Hopkins “Essays That Worked” Class of 2023! I tutor high school students with a focus on the future, helping students develop critical thinking and test-taking skills that will help them throughout their academic careers.
Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that the first step of learning is asking the right questions. When teaching, I try to guide students to the right questions and tackle those questions together. I believe there is no learning without doing, so I emphasize and provide practice problems for students to master the material.
