Bio

Hi.

I'm Trace. I got my bachelor's at the University of Georgia in English, and I'm back again getting my master's in Early Childhood Education. I've been in elementary classrooms for the past two years teaching and assisting the lead teachers. I've been tutoring since eighth grade (wow that feels like a while ago), and it's something I've really always enjoyed. I love helping my students succeed. That's really why I'm in the field I'm in. Hi.

I also love to challenge my students and introduce them to new content that may pique their interests.

I always loved the English language. I attended the Governor's Honors Program for English in 2009, and received my bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia in English in 2014. I also spent the summer of 2014 at Oxford University in the UK, studying medieval and contemporary English literature. I love to read and write. It's something that I'm incredibly passionate about, and it's something I want to share with others. I enjoy learning new words, and have devised a couple of systems to make it a little less taxing. I also enjoy the mechanics of the English language, and spend a good deal of my time proofreading my writing and writing done by friends and colleagues in my program.

Please feel free to contact me day or night. I'll get back to you as soon as I possibly can, and I look forward to getting the chance to help you with whatever you need helped with. Just get in touch with me and we can discuss the best times to meet and what you really want to focus on.

I'm currently enrolled in master's program at the University of Georgia in order to attain a degree in Early Childhood Education and be certified as a teacher in the state of Georgia. I have spent two years working in elementary schools through the program, as well as working with elementary school students both in and out of the confines of the school building. I have designed appropriate lesson plans for students, been the lead teacher of a classroom, and have spent around 150 - 200 hours working in an elementary school environment.

Phonics

In my master's program, I've taken several courses on the importance of phonics and its relation to early literacy development. I have received, in these courses, grades ranging from A to A+. I understand concepts such as phonemic and phonological awareness and how they relate to phonics and the written word.

I've taken several courses throughout my program related to test design, testing bias, and test preparation and received high marks on created assessments (both formal and informal). I've done research on study skills and how varying methods of preparation affect test taking. Not only that, I have tutored elementary, middle, and high school students for a variety of high stakes, standardized tests (including the CRCT, SAT, AP Exams, Georgia Milestones, the Georgia High School Graduation Test, numerous EOCTs, and the MAT).
