To My Potential Students:
I would like to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Greg and I am greatly interested in being your tutor. I am a veteran educator with over 23 years worth of experience working as a public school teacher in both Alabama and Georgia. Over time I have taught Economics, Geography, Government, United States History, and World History at the high school level; Geography, History, and Science at the middle school level; and Physical Education at the elementary level. Additionally I have been employed as a tutor (teaching a variety of subjects) for school systems and the private sector as well.
As far as my education goes I have a Bachelor of Science Degree, Master Degree, and a Specialist Degree. I graduated at the top of my class when I received my Bachelor Degree and I had a 4.0 grade point average when i earned both my Master and Specialist Degrees. But do not mistake me for being a recluse who has never been outside. Professionally I have been successful as a coach (football, basketball, and soccer) at both the middle school and high school levels. I have won a state championship as a high school football coach and have been named assistant coach of the year in two different states. Personally I have been happily married for over 20 years and I have two wonderful daughters.
Through my years of being an educator, I have found that the best method of teaching is a combination of knowledge, flexibility, and discipline. I believe that knowledge is not just having an understanding and appreciation of the subject-matter, but it is also the ability to transfer what the teacher knows to the student in a manner so that the student can understand and remember the standard. Flexibility is the pragmatic expectation that no two days (or students) will ever be alike and a good teacher can adjust his/her lessons to best suit the needs of the student. Discipline is holding the student responsible for approaching each tutoring session prepared and ready to learn.
Please let me know if you are interested in talking to me about how I can help you achieve your goals.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am certified by the State of Georgia as an instructor of Social Studies (which includes: Behavioral Science (6-12), Economics (6-12), Geography (6-12), History (6-12), and Political Science (6-12)), Middle Grades Science (4-8), and a Teacher Support Specialist.
